Very nice! How is Heung Lai? Have you been able to sample any? I guess it is one of the "heirloom lychees."

Yes, I got to try a few fruits back in 2017. I remember the flesh was soft, very juicy and fragrant with no rag. Here's the link for pictures of the fruit

Here's my Brewster lychee tree with fruits (still green). Photos taken on 7/4/21.

I had a lot of flowers and small fruits, but then I noticed many of the fruits about 1/2"-3/4" started to drop (probably due to hot weather) so now it looks like I may have only half the amount of fruits this year.

I swept the roof of the lychee flowers (dead ones drop) since it was piling up and here's a photo of the pile, over 12 lbs from 2 sides of the tree on roof top.

Here's some photos of the green fruits, they should start to ripen here in SoCal at the end of August.

This must be v late lychee I saw with lots of 4" panicles in my Broward zip code. Lychee panicles look prettier than mango panicles______

Very nice lychee photos! I planted a lychee but it went nowhere. I blame the alkaline soil here, at least in my Broward location ... but mangos don't mind it. Citrus also did not thrive due to alkalinity. Lychee is definitely more exotic than mangoes. I need a neighbor with a lychee tree that I can trade my best mangoes with.

Yes lychees don't like alkaline soil, but they can thrive here and it takes years for the deficiencies to show up (like 20 years, or so I was told).  My lychee tree is 9 years old and healthy and produced a huge crop this year in an area known for the most limestone bedrock.

Update on my Brewster fruits (SoCal), Orange County.

Looks like my fruits facing north are starting to ripe first.

Looks like I will be picking the fruits all next week. I picked 10 lbs today and it looks like my tree has another 30 lbs.

Thanks. Too bad it has the larger seeds, I need to convert more branches to sweetheart or other varieties with small seeds.

Picked my last couple of sweetheart lychee today.  Tree is 7 years old this year and 1st official year I let it fruit.  We only got a little over 50 fruits but oh boy they were good, juicy clean sweet taste with 100% chicken tongue seeds.  We had great flowiering and pollination ratio but 95% of my fruit drops.  It was even dropping fruits when they were about size of a quarter.  I will try to give same k mag or epsom salt more regularly.  Sadly I haven't kept that up the last 2 years.
Majority of fruit does not turn red when ripen.  I let a couple of tree top fruit hang well after shoulders swelled and they still didn't turn all red.  While there was a handful in the center of the tree that did.  Taste was the same.   This tree is not a myth.  Everything they say is true about these trees.  They will fruit in California 10b.

Wow everyone's Lychees look great!  Have to give a shout out to Kaz.....awesome looking tree.  I am trying to imagine my trees even producing half that amount.  I am late to the party as usual, but at least I got here.  This is my 6 year old Mauritius tree with about 80 fruits...the best it has done so far. Last year I only had 7 fruits.  Just tasted a couple today and they are sweetening up nicely....very juicy too!   I also have a 5 year old Sweetheart with just 3 fruit, but they seem to be maturing, so I hope to taste those this year.

Guayaba, nice fruits on your Sweetheart and Mauritius trees !

I was lucky enough to taste some Sweetheart fruits this year from Boxturtle and they were excellent. His fruits are all large like the photo he shows, chicken tongue seeds, and very sweet.

He was nice enough to share many cuttings from his Sweetheart tree so I'm now converting my large Brewster tree so next year I hope to have 1/3 of my tree branches with Sweetheart. I will eventually convert 1/2 of the tree to Sweetheart in the next few years. The other half of the tree will be multi-grafted with all the other good varieties everyone talks about (Mauritius, Emperor, Kaimana, NMZ, Heung Lai). Even though I love Longans also, the Lychees seems to have more flesh to eat so I like my multi-grafted tree.

My Brewster looks good for this year, plenty of flowers. Last time I had over 75 lbs, hope I get the same this year.
I picked the last of my lychee fruits for the year. I ended up with 55 lbs total, not bad.
