The correct spelling of "Mon thong" durian

Okay durian experts (Mike T), what is it: Mon Thong, Monthong, or Mon-thong? I see it written all sorts of ways...

In Thailand they don't have rules how to use our alphabet. So everything that sounds like it is fine.

Golden pillow is the translation.

The word in thai alphabet is the real way to write it, all Thai will write it perfect in their own language.

I don't speak thai very well but just  tuuriaaan mongthong  is enough to let them know what you mean.

I am no expert but could have a wild stab in the dark.Thai English has 'h' silent to excess. Just look at a map with city names. There is often several different spellings in English of the same words. For golden pillow it is just easier to say montong and write it that way and forget if it is 2 words or has a silent 'h'. For the number 2, 'long stalk' it is said as 2 words more clearly and kan, gan or gaan are equally used.

It is a transliteration, and there is no such thing as a correct transliteration. But the usual, most common, spelling is monthong. In Thai it is 2 words: golden pillow.
