A 2nd plant is flourishing (no more) so reposting this
Plants can only be shipped out of Hawaii if potted in peat moss and most cuttings do not thrive in it. despite that was asked several times by Filipino for it, so when found a tree  gave it a try. Out of 30 ....... 5 grew and out of which only 2 are flourishble enough to sell. = the outrageous price.
can purchse from link below ... Only US shipping - NO Shipping to addresses in the states of CA, TX, LA, AZ

Someones comment by email:

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<    I've heard of a number of edible varieties of blublifera, but their edibility occurs on a bit of a range, with some more edible than others.  It looks like that's what you got.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

12
I tried to cooking it for second try - this time changed the water once and this time there was no intoxicating effect. Perhaps putting extra water once (like double the height of cut potato) could do it in just one cook without changing.

13
I have found some semi wild Purple Air Potatoe/Dioscorea Bulbifera. its specs:
It has only green bulbifera leaves, small to big size air potatoes biggest is several pound, bulbils are smooth and rounded
Now the important part: The bulbils when raw are somewhat bitter and give intoxicating effect, BUT after boiling them they are NOT bitter. I ate a handful of the cooked and only feel a fraction of the intoxication caused by consuming 1/20 that amount of the raw.
In perspective in the past i encounter a bulbifera similar shape dont remember what exact colour, which after cooking was very very bitter and toxic the same as when it was raw.

So question :: are these to be considered edible or not.

By comparision of the two mentioned = this purple one is EDIBLE.
In a few threads people have said that when a edible air potatoes varieties end up in the wild, they turn bitter and toxic. Can anyone comment on that ? Can the reverse happen ie. a semi bitter variety in cared enviorment loose its bitterneess, and if yes then could anything help to speed/help that reversal???  I believe 100% that this specimen formerly a Edible type (or still is) or it would not have got to this island and be in the type of place where found it.

Please do not send PM for a bulb will, after confirming its edibility status - notify when put on ebay

the attachement button not show or would put the picture

I have made a ebay listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/111533118736 if anyone wants the seeds of this Pangium Edule. I am pretty sure that the fruit is not high in cynide as i ate a bunch of it (1 fruit coconut size over 2 days) and didnt feel a thing, and will continue to eat it when find more of it.

@ micah
I dont own land so my "plant list" is everchanging depending where at and what find. Besides the Pangium edule have put some other seeds on ebay. Currenly saipan.

16
yep thats it thanks micah! it was similar enough looking to theobroma to have looked in that direction.
The seed is definatly high in cynide, but there is some misinformation that the fruit is as well, but it isnt and some webpages have pionted out that . Its just like saying that the fruit of apples and apricots are dangerous and high in cynide, but they arent only their seeds are. I ate a bunch of this fruit and didnt feel a thing, nor is pulp even slightly bitter which is intrinsic to cynide content.
Now that know what it is, going to make a listing soon if anybody wants some seeds to grow

17
thanks everybody

Got it that need to take more photos, only have a webcam so dont know when will be able to take them and the photos wont be of perfect quality. Will post them as soon as do. I say its a theobroma because because fruit looks exaclty like grandiflora exept is more yellow and wetter inside, and importantly the inside seed/pulp formation is theobroma/cocao like not chupachupa like which is the only other contestant.

Sadhu says that its not among the 15 types of theobroma that he has seen and that all theobroma have soft seed while this one differs by having a hard shelled seed.

heres pic of the seed without pulp atop a medium coconut.

18
are Theobroma sp. San Lorenzo and Matisia sp. San Lorenzo the same thing???? while the leaves are similar to san lorenzo and chupa chupa the fruits are not (didnt see any photos of theobroma san lorenzo fruit) the fruit and leaves of similarium are similar though similarium is white, dry looking and ruggedy shaped, this one is yellow, wet and totally round smooth and big just like grandiflora.

the San Lorenzo or matisia the fruits are bearing off the trunk, while the one here none on the trunk - fruits come at the top end of branch(like similarium, but leaves are trident shaped , similarium arnet).

Location is not puerto rico nor the caribean, and i dont think it has anything to do with jim west (when did he start distributing the seeds of san lorenzo??) because the pocket of these trees found in the jungle seem to have been there for a while, maybe few generationa in that  location. Have seen clusters of them in 2 separate location in jungle, perhaps somthing came with spanish and changed and spread???
the fruit Quararibea cordata, Matisia cordata is totally different from this type its not a chupa chupa

19
not going to say exactly where just yet , but will say that its a former spanish island colony. If trees can morph within only 500 years then it could be a morph of theobroma grandifloria

20
the leaf is different from simirarium and fruit also.. I image searched the list all the 15-20 names and none matched the leaf. not a perfect survey but thats all there is available???

21
have looked thoroughly online of all the theobromas but havent found a match.

hello i have come across a fruit similar to Cupuacu/ theobroma grandiflorum though not the same. trying to find its name. the fruit is the same looking as Cupuacu though from the description i read of Cupuacu the difference with this are Cupuacu is sweet/sour, and strong smell while this one is not sour only very sweet, and no smell, seems more wet then Cupuacu and the leaves are totally different . attached are photo of leaves and fruit. dont know about cupuacu seeds but the seeds of this one have very hard shell need hammer. inside fatless white, taste is unpleasent bitter, seed is not edible
