someone described them to me as “pretty much white sapote but way more cold hardy”

A local grower in central Texas shared some fresh fruit with me a couple months ago and can confirm that the Pringle's Sapote tree withstood at least Zone 8b cold temperatures whereas the white sapote died back to the ground. Other than the familiar seed, the fruits tasted nothing at all like the white sapote I've had. The closest fruit that they remind me of are kumquats; citrusy, bitter, and pungent. Here's a blog post from the Texas nursery Peckerwood Garden on the fruit..

Will you be keeping any seedlings for yourself? I'm planning on testing out white sapote grafts to see if they can be knocked down a zone for cold tolerance. The web is sparse on info on whether it's possible aside from this post from eight years ago with no updates.

Here's some photos of my largest two-month old seedlings and the fruit for reference:

Yes I got lucky and got 4 seedlings so keeping 2 and selling 2, would love to see a hybrid of it with white sapote though would be interesting

Still available if anyone’s interested

Lowered to $15 a piece

I have 2 small Pringle's Sapote (Casimiroa Pringlei) seedlings for sale, they’re still small but apparently a pretty rare native fruit, someone described them to me as “pretty much white sapote but way more cold hardy”
Would prefer for now to do local pick up only if anyone’s interested message me
Since they’re pretty rare i’d like to ask $15 a piece or best offer

I have an African Moringa (Moringa stenopetala) for sale
Asking $15 shipping included or if you live close by let me know if you want to pick it up, also might be open to trades

I’ve had it about 3 years or so it’s died to the roots a couple times from cold but has a healthy well established rhizome it always shoots back up from, it’s about a foot and a half tall right now, the leaves are bitter and i’ve read they contain a compound that can cause goiters but also read that in Africa they’re eaten regularly so not completely sure on that
Message me if interested
:)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Moringa stenopetala can cause a goiter ?
« on: September 25, 2019, 04:39:52 PM »
I have a Moringa stenopetala but was considering selling it, but i’ve read that this species can cause a goiter ? But apparently it’s used a lot in Africa, just wondering if anyone had anymore information about this
My original interest in this species was to try and hybridize it with Moringa oleifera since stenopetala seems to be more drought and heat tolerant or use the leaves as bio mass since they’re very bitter
Here’s a source saying they cause goiters

Pringle's Sapote (Casimiroa Pringlei) seeds have a pretty good germination rate, planted 4 seeds and 4 sprouted, there’s some weeds sprouting up I need to get too 😅
But wanted to see who else is growing these and would love any tips for them
