new owner is a woman?

is she the one with the notebook and calculator?

she told me any discount over the stated discounted price would be out of her own pocket.

i don't know about the plants being from mimosa or not, but the tags are from pine island nursery website.

maybe the owner of mimosa was there for the grand opening, he's somewhat of a celebrity, being a pioneer and some sort of poet/writer.

but there's no way i'll drive to east la for a tree, and the shipping plus phyto certificate is crazy for buying trees from florida.

but as of today i'll say scala is the number 1 tropical fruit tree nursery in orange county.  i went to roger meyer's the other day, while impressed with the trees he was able to grow in ground, i wasn't impressed with the trees he had for sale--but he did say he's starting anew because his best specimens were sold.

Scala nursery  3439 West MacArthur Boulevard, Santa Ana, CA 92704
(714) 557-3404

it's opposite of the home depot.

the old owners usually open at noon, but the new guy means business, he's opening from 8 am to 4:30.

don't know, i probably got the one.  lots of chico, alano, but i didn't check each one.

i think most of their trees are from pine island nursery.  the grand opening is supposed to be on the 16th so they are still unloading plants from trucks.

scala nursery in santa ana is having a sale, a grand reopening if you will, with new ownership.  the last owners were halfway into retirement it seemed so they weren't dedicated to getting more plants.  but the new ownership seems to be getting more varieties than ever before.

50% off on certain selections, 30% on others, and 20% for the rest.

i got a hasya sapodilla at ~$65 with the 20% off about 2 feet tall.

seems like a lot of work for basically the same result.

mine is way simpler, no yeast, just sugar.

9
hmm, usually you freeze things to prevent them from breaking down.

anyway, i'm just saying that the process can be started right now with the available fruits, then add more later.

10
why freeze them at all?

if you have a container of some kind, you can slice them up, then put a layer of fruit to a layer of sugar, then just add more layers when you have more.

i don't drink at all, but i love making this homemade wine where you know what's going in it.  whereas watching tv all the winemakers never seem to wash their grapes, just pluck and then straight to the extractor with all the bird droppings, spiders, their eggs, and many other things. the nastiest thing would be the ones with people stomping the grapes with their barefeet, hooray, for foot fungus.

i saw cherimoya for $25.

passion fruit for $16

can mamey sapote be pruned to manageable size?

12
well my seedlings aren't quite dead yet and there's no minimum order from that guy :D

13
it's supposed to to rain on saturday, what will they do?

14
yes, i had 3 jackfruit trees in vietnam.  relatives own orchards.

you leave any fruit outside and it will deteriorate on its own.  have you even had fruits in your life?

15
make the hole however you want

16
make a video of the latex profusely dripping out of a jack fruit.

17
we had 2 trees in vietnam.  1 gave small but super sweet fruits, the other gave more of a sweet and tart taste, but really large fruits with many ridges 7-8 because it was right next to a fish pond.

i tasted fruits from other trees, but none compared to ours, although i didn't think much of it then since you always long for fruits you don't have like apples and pears.

18
vietnamese have been bleeding jackfruit by cutting a small hole and then hanging the fruit.

19
i don't know if i was promised one, but i did ask for one in that thread and is willing to pay for the shipping as long as it is reasonable.  ;)

jesus is in chino?

22
aren't airlayers plants? ???

do i have to email you to get the prices?

23
i would like a mamey sapote and makok sapodilla if the price is right, but the list is earlier than 2009 so i don't know if the prices are still true.

24
i'm always looking for jaboticaba, my newly purchased plant lost a bunch of leaves and is not looking too good, i think they let the soil dried out too much for shipping so leaves were dried and brittle then came santa ana wind.

anyway, i'm willing to pay for shipping of the seedling  :D

25
the owner of mimosa or one of his worker? and what's the charge?
