There's a nursery near my place that carries some mangoes on La Verne rootstock. However, it's mostly Keit, Tommy Atkins, and Cogshall. Nothing fancy or exotic.

My Valencia Pride, Glenn, and Keo Savoy mango are all uncovered. They are happy as a clam. My nam wah banana looks miserable. However, my saba, ice cream, and hua moa banana are doing well. I am in your neck of the wood.

last night when I got home from school i covered my mango tree structure with green house fabric and ran a green halogen light in there and it stayed  warm enough to ptevent freeze. my banannas look absolutely destroyed though

I am planning to give my dad a Maha Chanok mango. Can it be grown in a big pot? Thanks.

I second this as well.

Has anyone here tasted a Gem Avocado or does the allure live within the great marketing name?
I thought general consensus to this point was very slow growing.

Strychnine is back on the market again. I am going to kill them gophers, moles, and voles with it. More effective. If it's not California compliant, I will have it shipped to Arizona.

I have a Fe'i, heaven facing type of banana plant. It's going thru it's first cold weather in Southern California now. It looks ornamental and hopefully tastes good too.

I have 3 varieties of carambola as well- sour, Kari, and some Chinese sounding named variety. I am looking forward to taste everyone of them. I hope the sour one is not as sour as the bilimbi.

Folks,

Are these kesar mangoes? I got these from the local Carrefour in the GCC region. It looks yellow, but it's still hard like hell. It's a small mango-3" in size. Thanks.

A friend of mine had his plumeria completely chopped off and carried away by thief. My cousin's friends had a whole bunch of "Vietnamese" banana stolen before they could even harvest it.  My cousin and friend both live in Fountain Valley, CA.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does PPK stand for? Thanks.

Believe it or not, durian can't even grow in many regions of tropical Vietnam and the Philippines.

We have Indian Rajapuri mango at the local Carrefour in the Gulf region. It's not a bad tasting mango.

Thanks Chris. My dad went there for some other plants yesterday. I asked him to look for some ilama plants for me, but Mimosa ran out of it. The owner said it's sold out.

Man, that Bertanha cultivar is garbage. My workplace serves it in the cafeteria here in Dubai. Matter of fact, I just had it this morning.  Yes, it is big, bland, and semi-fibrous. I was planning to take a pix and ask you guys about it, but I was like "yeah."

Has anyone had a taste of this cultivar?

the fruits are purple, elongated, and look like a zeppelin

they look like they could tip the scales and beat the largest keitt or lancetilla mango out there.

Any feed back??? Brasilieros calling all Brasilieros!.

Awesome.  Mine are hopeless.  First, one sprouted, but then it died out.

I am curious if there's a nursery in Southern California that sells ilama in a 3-7 gal pot.

Eid Mubarak! Went out to the mall in Dubai with my sister in-law's family. Like a freaking zoo everywhere, but it's fun though.
