I have 4 varieties, all grown in containers.
I also get harvest from them every year starting in July to October.

- Biew Kiew
- Diamond River
- Kohala
- Sri Chompoo

Kohala can be planted in ground here without issues.
I kept mine outdoors without any protection, looks like the cold weather didn't bother it at all.

I have a kohala and biew kiew in containers but they're not doing that well. Can you give some tips regarding fertilizers and watering schedule?

I suspect leafhopper/ sharpshooter or brown stink bug that got into this branch.

why are the lower trunk white? whitewash?

Since the rot is so close to the dirt I wouldn't mess with it. Plant the rootball higher then the ground, keep the trunk dry, and pray for the best. Looks like nice trees otherwise.

Sorry fresh one - I didn't even look at the "Do Not Use on Edibles part of the directions.
But it's 3 years later so i assume the bad stuff has left the tree by now.  Anyway....
was just trying to help...and the stuff did work.....

Systemic will be the last resort. I have some Bayer advanced that works really well for my hibiscu. I'll use it on the Mahachanok if it continues to decline or if I detect borers.

Manilla/Ataulfo/Champagne are they the same variety? I often see Manilla seedling at HD maybe I'll need to pick up a few this season.

Can anyone identify what's causing the leaves to turn yellow?

If there are not any pests causing the leaves to look like that, then the tree is probably deficient from roots not up taking nutrients.  Pests tend to find unhealthy hosts in decline.  Is your soil too wet or too dry? What is that white paint on the trunk?  With that much bark dieback on such a young tree I would just replace it with a healthy one and move on.  How much sunlight does it get?

I watered deeply once a week when temperature's above 80F.

I painted the scar with a regular interior white paint.

The tree gets 6-8 hrs of sunlight.

I have a African Pride atemoya tree in the north facing part of the yard. Between thanksgiving to late Feb it sees very little to no sunlight. Right now it gets about 3 hr/day and 8+hrs of sunlight in the summer time. First year in the ground I managed to get three delicious medium fruits, and this year 15 medium to large fruits. The tree is very vigorous and I'm trying to keep it compact as I have limited space. It's about 7' now and I'm going to prune it back to 4' in a few weeks.

Hi All,

My Potted Mahachanok mango tree is suffering from gummosis. I've stripped the afflicted bark and painted the trunk with an interior latex paint. The paint helps locate the area that persist as it oozes with sap. I just removed that area and paint over it. Is there any thing else I can do to save my tree? Also the leaves are a bit yellow what nutrients are missing?
