The most famous banner icon ever. :D

Saw so many amazing things people did to grow citrus around the world. Can't remember who, some in Latvia, that had build his greenhouse underground for winter. Brilliant!

Fast forward to the last month and about 80% of the leaves have dropped. It has blossomed twice but I pulled all of the flowers after reading that it may help the key lime tree bounce back.

This has happened to me as well before. I've noticed that repotting (at least when I o it) is a stressful experience for them. Even my trifoliate lost most of its leaves after repotting. I once had a lemon tree dying after repotting.

Update: what to do in case you do not have any plugs available (like me) so extra lighting is not possible.

I guess that's inevitable without artificial lighting but a question: does this mean there is an inbalance in the tree? If so, what to do at this point?

Awesome!

Do you have a topic on your way of working? (greenhouse, lighting,...)

Cheers!

Your PT doesn't seem happy.

Yeah the PT had to recover from repotting. I must have done something wrong a while ago so some branches died of but he came back so that's a start. :)

I thought the currency in the Czech republic was euro. I was wrong. :)

Roughly 200 CK for a plant which is roughly 8 euro. Those are some extremely good prices. :o

Below some pictures of my trifoliate which I received as seedlings from MarcV a couple of years ago and something that came out of whatever seed I put in the ground during spring.

Would cost a fortune with the permits.

The shipping costs? Or do you need to get permits for plant imports?

Unfortunately, they only ship within Italy. This means, in the future my mother in law will have to receive a tree for me. :p

Added Ruoppo to the list. Located in Sorrento Italy. Has Amalfi and Sorrento. International shipping to be confirmed.

If they come true from eed, that is probably what I planted a couple of months ago.

I just found a different shop (forgive me, I did not check if they ship outside of Italy).

http://shop.ruoppo.it/3-limone

Sorrento as well as Amalfi trees for a very good price if you ask met. 25 euro (like $30) for a 1.2m high tree. I think they are trustworthy since they are located in the region itself.

I mailed them, just to check if they ship abroad (my first mail in Italian :D).

So I got a reply from the seramis (pokon) company...

Hydrograins/balls you generally put at the bottom of the container.
Hydrograins/balls are suitable for in- and outdoor whilst Seramis is for indoor containers.
With Seramis you measure the humidity of the soil with a meter whilst for hydrograins/balls this is not needed.

These are the main differences they gave me.

PS: sorry I am polluting this topic with Seramis info.

Thank you for the reply.

So basically there is no 100% sure way to tell if a seed is true to the parent...

A bit disappointing. :p

Just mailed the seramis company to check what the difference is between seramis and regular clay hydriballs. From the website, I can't see any difference.

My local Hydroponic store has these clay balls, are round and large. Their use is for hydroponic growing. It is not cheap, but worth trying, I have been eyeballing these big bags for a while. I have too many big containers.

I think we are talking about a different type of clayballs then. The ones I'm talking about are super cheap and aren't used that much anymore. They were used like 20 to 30 years ago for whatever reason with plants but now only for special needs.
I wonder if they are equal to seramis...

The clayballs I use are labelled as 'Hydrograins'. They should also be baked.

Citrus General Discussion / Polyembryonic seeds
« on: October 10, 2018, 08:18:43 AM »
Question here since the internet is full of biological explanations that for me are chinese...

If a citrus seed is polyembryonic, will it have more than 1 shoots coming out?

I have these "double" seedlings but never really checked why this happened. As far as I now, polyembryonic seeds are 'true' to the parent plant thus, if this results in double shoots from 1 seed, these 'doubles' are in fact also true to the parent plant.

Please enlighten me on this one. :)

Edit: another question: are all seeds from a single plant poly or mono embryonic or does it vary? In that case, the only way to get true seeds is by having them germinate and see if there are multiple 'shoots' (in case my above theory is correct).

Greets
