Tropical Fruit Discussion / Is this a sugar apple tree?
« on: May 19, 2017, 03:29:07 PM »
Ordered this from tropicaltreasure-us(ebay) a couple of months, finally growing leaves a few weeks ago, but more I look at it, don't think the shape of leaves look like sugar apple tree's leaves...  your take?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Potted mango tree problem
« on: March 17, 2017, 05:16:22 PM »
I have a fairly matured mango tree(either kent or glenn), bout 5 years old with the trunk thickness about 1.5 inches.  It's planted in a 15 gallon pot and overall height is around 5 ft.   Problem is it just wont fruit.  It'll bloom flowers and have a few baby fruits but they all drop when they're pea size....  I water and fertilize regularly, any idea??

Where else you can order tropical fruit trees that ship besides toptropical.com?    Seem like Pine island mainly carry mango trees?   Hoping to get some guava and sugar apple trees.

Noticed at a local nursery they got these 2 varieties in 10 or 15 gallon for only 60 bucks.  Which would you pick and why?  Any difference as far as taste wise?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / potted mango vs in-ground mango trees
« on: August 15, 2012, 06:10:26 PM »
I have about 7, 8 mango trees, all came in small 3 gallon pot when purchased early this spring.  I planted 1 in the ground so far and rest have repotted in 7 or 10 gallon pot recently.  I'm wondering what can i do so the potted mango trees in the future they'll grow as much fruit as the one in the ground?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / gold nugget mango

hi I just picked up a 3 gallon GN mango tree and was wondering if anyone tasted this variety of mango before?  I know it's pretty much fiberless but is it sweet at all, or just mildly sweet?

i know the term pruning and trimming, but any difference with tipping?  Does it also help a young mango tree grown from seedling to grow more vigorously and even bloom sooner?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / sticky clear slime on mango
« on: May 16, 2012, 09:24:52 PM »
noticed this sticky, clear slime(kinda dried up) on the fruit of my carrie mango tree.  The fruit is just a bit bigger than the size of an egg right now.... anyone know what it is or if it's normal without any pic?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / how to get carambola to bloom and fruit?
« on: April 13, 2012, 11:38:49 AM »
my 2 yr old potted star fruit tree rarely bloomed, and when it did, either the flowers just eventually died or developed small fruit but dropped off the tree.  The leaves and overall health of the tree seem fine.  Lack of pollination maybe?  More fertilizing?  Stop pruning for awhile?
Any idea or tips?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / HELP: new mango tree dying
« on: April 10, 2012, 03:22:22 PM »
If it's not dying, then it sure look very very depressed or close to dying.  Just recently bought a carrie mango tree in a 5 gallon container with some bloom.  I repotted it in a 15 gallon not long after purchasing it in potting soil and mulch.  Then started noticing all the bloom became brown/died, so i spread some copper fungicide.  Well now the leaves are dropping and the blooms are history, and the leaves that are on the tree look like they're on their last leg... any idea??
