Just planted out a South Florida persimmon (AKA Hudson) and was looking to graft a non-astringent type to one of the codominant leaders.

Are there any non-astringent types that do well in zone 10 FL coast?

Thanks for your help!

Looking for suggestions for a fruiting shade tree that will tolerate the onshore/offshore winds (we are a couple blocks from ocean, so there is some shelter from the wind and salt) without excessive leaf burn or falling over.  Was hoping to have decent enough spread to shade a nice 10x10 area.

Was considering Mango, but I feel like the wind could be an issue.
Longan?
Sapodilla (but not sure I want that many Sapodillas as the sugar gets to me, was wanting to eventually plant a dwarf Sapodilla).
Jackfruit?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Maprang - general care
« on: July 01, 2019, 10:07:06 PM »
Just planted out a seedling, so I guess maybe I am asking the question a bit late, but any pointers on planting and general care for Maprang greatly appreciated.

Do I just treat it like a mango?  The seedling looks similar to a mango seedling.

Inga spp.

Anyone know how well they stand up in hurricanes?

Just potted a couple seeds which had already germinated in the mail, supposedly half seeds are spectabilis and other half an unknown species.

Was hoping to put a couple straight into the ground though, but uncertain if I am going to regret that later...  Any help appreciated as to how they stand up to high winds and how low they can be maintained.

First post, btw, stoked to be here and thanks in advance for any help! :)
