A friend of mine is looking to sell his beautiful 65 gal sabaras. He has 3 of them and is ready to let them go if the price is right. These are at least 12 years old and have all fruited and flowered for the past couple of years. Buyer would have to go pick up from west palm beach. PM me with any questions.

« on: March 19, 2020, 11:33:04 PM »
I planted these at my parents house (Hollywood, FL) and Iím not around enough to care for them. Their soil is pretty much sand. All I did was plant them in the native soil, added compost, and fertilizer. Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Questions about planting in sandy soil
« on: January 24, 2020, 12:13:08 AM »
So I recently bought a few new trees Iím looking to plant at my parents house in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Their soil is very sandy, and at about 8-12 inches deep itís like rock. I tried planting a lychee there earlier this year and it died- I believe it was due to the sandy soil. The trees I will be planting include: jackfruit, pickering mango, 2 atemoya, abiu, avocado, star fruit, passion fruit, and bananas.

Do I need to add anything to the soil before I plant the trees?
What should I be adding after I plant them, besides mulch?
Should I avoid planting any of these specific trees next to each other?
I appreciate any other tips and feedback. Thanks!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Monstera Deliciosa seeds
« on: October 27, 2019, 07:49:09 PM »
So I got a fruit from one of my neighbors Monstera Deliciosa plants. I was hoping there would be some seeds in the fruit but was unsuccessful. Are the seeds normally found in the fruit?

Thanks for the help!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Annona/Atemoya seed Germination
« on: September 04, 2019, 08:33:51 PM »
Hey all,

I recently purchased some Atemoya and Rollinia seeds. I soaked them in water for a couple days and then I placed them in a produce container with some moist soil. Just checked up on them after two days and they appear to be growing some white mold. Any suggestions on what I can do to germinate them properly? Should I just toss these and buy new ones? Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Gonzo

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Tips on growing mango rootstock
« on: August 13, 2019, 09:18:19 PM »
I recently purchased 20 turpentine seeds from Truly Tropical in Soflo in order to grow them for rootstocks. I placed them in 1 gallon pots and buried them about 2-3 inches with potting soil. Now my concern is that where I currently have them they donít get full sun. Iíve read many mixed reviews about if they need sun or not so I came here asking for your guys opinion.

Thanks!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Questions about my avocado tree
« on: August 04, 2019, 12:24:37 PM »
This isnít really my tree- it is my neighbors. He asked me to do some research so here I am!
Can anyone identify what type of avocado this might be?
And does he need a cross-pollinator or will they fruit on their own?

Thanks!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Tips for grafting onto my Mango tree
« on: July 08, 2019, 03:50:01 AM »
I am new to grafting and am looking to graft onto my tree. I have been growing it from seed for about 7 years now and it has produced no fruit. I was wondering where I would graft onto and if I can graft half of the tree (so that half is the new kind and half is the original tree). Would appreciate any tips or ideas. Thanks guys!
