Hi friends... i was able to bring back seeds from my last two trips to Thailand and Malaysia and have seedling durians from the following cultivars. I have too many plants in my nursery and am interested in selling a few..  the plants are in special 16" deep pots.. and are about 2 years old.

Malaysia;
Black Thorn
Musang king

Thailand;
Puang Manee
Ganyao
Nokka chip
Hawk Talon
and a few others that were top notch.

These are not grafted trees, but they are definitely coming from amazingly high quality parent fruits.  please PM if interested.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Chempedek from seed
« on: September 04, 2018, 03:43:39 AM »
So I ordered some chempedek seeds from seed pirates over in Borneo or Malaysia somewhere.    Some kind of king chempedek variety... bright orange.  Anyways I planted the seedling today and was wondering if anyone know about how tall/wide/big this tree will get?  Also are they true to seed?  What are my chances??    Iíve got the tree on a drip emitter so it should get some tlc.

Oscar or any other experts out there I think this is a male tree right?   Looks like it has the pollen.

Tree is about 5í tall.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Artocarpus collection and spacing
« on: April 21, 2018, 01:22:20 AM »
Well friends.  Iíve been working on a project for almost a year now thatís coming to completion!  Backfilling a 200 ft long retaining wall at the bottom of my property.  I am planning out the trees to plant and I will be laying irrigation lines with drip system as well.  So the trees will get some TLC

Itís left me with an area approximately 200 ft long and 60 ft wide.   Hereís what Iím planning on planting in the space:

Artocarpus elasticus (already in the ground.  10í tall and has been topped)
2 Keledang
Artocarpus chama??   Not sure the real name
2-3 marang
2-3 pedalai
2 artocarpus hirisutus
2 chempedek
Jackfruit

Hereís the question for you experts out there. Do all these trees need equal spacing??  I know the pedalai wants to get huge and the marang too. I am planning on doing some serious top working on all these trees FYI...  and also Am I missing any must have artocarpus??

Tropical Fruit Discussion / eugenia calcynia
« on: May 25, 2017, 03:19:58 AM »
Hey guys.. from all the pictures i've found on google these little trees (bushes) look quite small and seem to fruit at a very small size (like a foot or two off the ground)   who has experience with these and can comment on how big they get and planting distance between them etc.

i'm looking to plant them alongside a south wall of my house in a flowerbed area about 5 feet wide.   thanks!

i got my seeds from Miguel i think

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Achacha season in Australia
« on: March 12, 2017, 12:55:51 AM »
Hi guys.  When is the peak season for achacha in Australia?  And is it available everywhere?  Or just in the north.  I have a friend who lives on the west coast and wants to get some fruit.

12
Alright fellow jackfruit loving friends.  Since living in hawaii I have probably eaten At least 50 jackfruits. And this one takes 1st place by a huge margin. Unbelievably delicious

Got this fruit from a friend growing the tree on his farm in Kona.  He claims it's by far his best tree and he calls it a "jackfruit" but I'm pretty convinced it's a "cheena".  (Jackfruit/chempedak cross)  the way the pods SO EASILY remove from the central core.  And also the skin can easily be torn back (similar to how a chempedak does)   But the SIZE... (25 pounds this one) and also the taste and texture of the fruit are amazing.  Soooo sweet and delicious and the yield was incredible.   Texture was not all gummy like a chempedak... definitely not crunchy like jackfruit tho.  Happy medium I would say

Anyways I think it's pretty obvious to say how stoked I am on this one.  I will be planting about 10 seeds personally and selling the rest.

Let's do 10 seeds for $15.  Plus $8 shipping within USA.   Get em while you can. This one is worth growing

Tropical Fruit Discussion / New growth on garcinias
« on: November 17, 2016, 06:48:57 PM »
I'm always fascinated by the colors all the different garcinias put out when new growth emerges. Had to take a picture of this garcinia dulcis.  Literally hot pink!  Haha. The others are usually yellow for new growth. Crazy.

this fruit is delicious!   Literally tastes like a combination of mangosteen and a tangerine.  Sweet and tart.  Need a male and female tree to cross pollinate.  4-6 years to fruit I'm told.

These seeds are pretty rare.  I've not seen them for sale before on the forum. $2.50 each.    Minimum order is 6 seeds ($15). Shipping is $7 USA and $15 foreign.   Please PM if interested.

Awesome fruit!!  The fruit itself is small but has very thin skin.  So the amount of edible fruit is about the same as a regular sized mangosteen.  Good ratio of edible fruit for its size. Also seeds come off clean.  No hairy fruit stuck to the seed like regular mangosteen.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Seedling mango trees. Pointless experiment??
« on: September 05, 2016, 02:14:08 AM »
Hello my friends.  I recently planted a seed from my Raposa and pirie mangos.  Both mangoes are incredibly delicious.  Super high quality.  JUST FOR FUN I planted two seeds and thought "hmm... What are the chances that these seedling trees could grow up and be a good mango like their parents without any grafting??   1%?   5%?   I know the chances are incredibly low and will likely result in a small, stringy, common looking junk mango.   But part of me is willing to just see the experiment though for kicks.  And in 6-8 years when my tree is producing mangoes I may cut it down or I may be happy with my new mango discovery of deliciousness.    (98% chance it's no good).

Question is does anyone on this forum reading this have any experience themselves planting a mango seedling and it actually turning out to be a good mango??  After all this is how new varieties have come into existence right?   Sounds like from what I've heard of you planted 100 pirie seeds you might get 1 tree that's a high quality new fruit.  True?

Hi friends.  This ice cream bean is different from the regular types I have seen in and around big island.  Much longer and actually better tasting than others I've tried.   The other ice cream bean is more watery.  Texture of wet cotton.   This variety has more of a creamy texture.   Still cottony but better all around.
Selling seeds 10 for $20.  Shipping $7 for USA.  $15 outside USA
