I will give a presentation about some of the fruits I encountered in my last 9 months abroad in Asia as an exchange student in China and while fruit exploring across Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Dubai, India, Turkey, and Germany. Afterwards I will give a fruit tasting of Murray Family Farms, hayride, and a tour of my personal rare fruit collection of 350 species of 1,500 varieties. These fruits were growing in Sri Lanka and simply called Sri Lankan Olives, anyone know their scientific name? Taste is actually a lot like a prepared olive

About a month ago I spent some time in Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar in Tanzania Africa. The fruit selection was was fairly poor on the mainland with mainly oranges and baobobs fruit availae but there was some cool stuff on Zanzibar. Here are some photos. I did come in contact with lots of sabia species and they had their own kinds of rambutans that they called litchis and their own kinds of durian

In two weeks I will be headed to Taipei and Beijing in mainland China. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go to find rare fruits or rare wild fruits in Taipei area? I'm interested in good fruit markets or botanical gardens or anywhere where there is a lot of different rare fruits. Thank you all and I will post photos of fruits once I arrive.

Hello, I haven't been active on this forum in a while. One of my yangmei plants started to flower. I am curious if there are any other people with improved yangmei varieties here in California? I think my plant is a donghui but it has lost a tag.

Wanted - saguaro fruits, fresh or dried. I am a big fan of cactus fruit and heard this is one of the best tasting varieties. I'm even down to go to Arizana and pick some up.

Ochagavia elegans is a species Bromide species that produces an edible fruit known as Ajo dulce or sweet garlic because the fruit resemble sweet garlic cloves. The fruit is only native to the Juan de Fuca islands off the coast of chile. I am looking of viable seeds or cuttings* (if in america).

I have been gone for a year from my greenhouse and finally am back again. Some of my plants have died but most look really good. There are several species growing in different places that I am not sure if I can ID starting with this vine. I know nothing about it or if it is really a fruit but its got flowers now and has rhizomous  roots.

Plant 6 plant is in a 15 gallon container and growing extremely slow(5 or 6 year old plant), I think it is a joboticaba relative and have had people say its a camucamu, but i am still not convinced, it does not look like any other jabo to me.

plant 7 was sold to me as giant jabuticaba, not sure if thats its real name or if its something else. Plant around 5 years old.

plant 9, no matter how hard I try to look up this scientific name, nothing comes up.

Plant 10, originally thought it was a yellow jabo but is some other myrticaceae, not sure which. (other unknown plant right next to it)

I Finally have been able to ID one of the plants growing in my greenhouse as Kangaroo apple, which is a solanum sp. I have never heard of it before getting some seeds of it but know that by the time I come back home I will hopefully have a bunch of ripe fruit. I read on one site that the fruits are only edible when fully ripe and on another that they are poisonous. I would like to verify that they are edible before I eat them. The plants are small bushy and are prone to snails, but they have survived and from the images back home are full of fruit. I read about several species listed as kangaroo apple but wasnt sure which one it is. When I get home I will post some photos of the fruit

Bush tucker species have been a particular interest of mine and there many other australian natives in the collection and I have fruiting plants of Cedar bay cherries, midgen berries(very tasty in my opinion), bunyabunya, Acmena smithii, Syzygium coolminianum, Billardiera scandens appleberry(was fruiting when I got the plant but as it needs two plants to cross fertilize stopped fruiting), Fingerlimes, and now kangaroo apples.

Small plants of a Capparis sp, Terminalia ferdinandiana Kakadu plum, Australian boabab, native peanut Sterculia sp, Syzygium wilsonii, Antidesma bunius, Billardiera longiflora purple appleberry, Clausena excavata pink wampee(from seeds 4 years ago), Mimusops elengi, Chrysophyllum lanceolatum, and a couple other syzygiums and a couple plants I can't ID.

There are also two big Davidson plums that are about 5 years old that hopefully will fruit soon. Bought a mac nut tree years ago but didnt know what I was doing back then and it died.

I am very interested in more info about Muntries berries. I have heard that they are a very tasty fruit and would like to hear more about it. Quandongs have been a dream plant to have for years and I am interested in have some, but they cant be brought into cali. I have also been interested in burdunkin(not sure its spelled right) and in australian tamarinds if anyone knows anything about them.

I used to see seeds available of a species of Saurauia several years ago and have not heard of them since then. I bought some and dont think any of them germinated(though I would need to be able to ID it to be sure and there is one plant I have that might be). It is in the same family as the kiwi and I was told the fruit taste like some of the non-fuzy hardy kiwis. They require male and female plants.

I just got a photo from home saying that my african medlar trees have sprouted and I am wondering if anyone knows any thing about the fruit quality? I am also growing some of the Vangueria madagascariensis or spanish tamarind and am wondering how the flavor compares.
