Tropical Fruit Discussion / which grapes do best in south florida?
« on: September 16, 2018, 09:37:09 AM »
I am having a pergola installed as a cover for a front porch (approx 15' x 40').  What would your suggestions be for the best grape to do well in South Florida but is also a good eating grape.  The spot is almost full light with some sections filtered by a large tree.  Also looking to buy/trade those grapes if you know where they are sold or have any.  Willing to swap budwood from any of my almost 200 mango trees for this as well.

Yes, you read that right.  I am just planting a few and selling off the rest.  They vary in size from 3 gal to 25 gal.  I will not ship any and all must be picked up unless you make me an offer I can't refuse.  Please contact me with what you want and I will let you know prices based on size and rarity.

I'm looking for anyone who has pommerac plants for sale/trade.  Please contact me via PM if you have some or know a nursery that sells them.

7
I have about a dozen papaya trees in ground that are thriving and producing fruit.  The problem is my wife hates papaya and the kids want an addition to the tree house.   These are different varieties that I have either purchased online or traded for seeds with people from all over the globe.  I don't remember which is which but they are all different.  They are FREE to who ever comes and digs them up and hauls them away.  The one condition I have is that I do not lift a finger.  I won't dig, I won't drag, I will, however, offer you a drink but no manual labor for me.

Message me if you want them

All orders will be cut and shipped on a Monday to give the greatest chance of the scions not spending a wasted day in transit sitting in a postal warehouse (Sunday).

Tropical Fruit Discussion / plant tape tying tool
« on: February 08, 2015, 08:20:12 AM »
I am in the market for one of those tools that staple the plant tape around the plant so it breaks when the tree grows as opposed to girdling the plant from my fisherman knots.   Does anyone have a brand that they know to be quality?  I was eyeing this one

Ladies and Gents,

May I suggest updating your profile to show specifically what fruit trees you have.  This is a good way to promote trading and expanding of collections.  I can't tell you how many times someone has mentioned a mango and then I click on their profile and there is no list of what they have.  Take a moment and catalogue your collection.  You will not only have the benefit of showing others what is up for grabs but also have a very handy and accessible list in case a tag falls off at your house or you are at a nursery and can't remember if you have this variety or that one.

  Admin,
Is it possible to make peoples lists searchable?

Kindest regards,
The Marquis De Mango

I have reached that time where I peddle off my duplicates for stuff I don't have.  The first installment of trade bait are 3 gal versions of the following:

Azucar
Angie
Dwarf Hawaiian

PM me with what you have to offer.  Click on my profile and see what I have and offer me anything aside from that.

I am primarily interested in Mango, Jackfruit, Papaya and Figs but will entertain all offers.

I'll try to post some pics in the next couple of days

15
These are both in ground and doing well but I need the space.  Offer me anything, come and dig them out and one or both are yours.  I will try to post pics later.   The canistel is roughly 10' and the Black Sapote is roughly 12-15'.  PM me if you have any interest.  I will happily trade for any well shaped mango or jackfruit or papaya of any size

Also, if you are someone who has done me a solid before, come and get it, it's all yours.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / What mango variety begins with the letter Y?
« on: December 20, 2014, 11:57:27 AM »
My OCD and need for completion demands that I have a mango variety from every letter in the alphabet.  Thanks to Excalibur and the Quidnau, I am missing only a Y.  Ideally, I would like it to taste good but, at this point, beggars can't be choosers.  Anything with a Y will do.  Ladies and Gentlemen, your guidance is very much appreciated.

I am looking for budwood from quality loquat varieties, mangos I do not have and rooted fig cuttings that I do not have.   I am also looking for a top quality variety of barbados cherry

I have the following to offer:

I am willing to trade budwood of any of my varieties that are large enough to share budwood from in exchange for rooted fig varieties I do not have.  Feel free to look at my profile to determine both what budwood I have as well as what fig varieties I don't have.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Wanted: Any mango tree I do not have
« on: September 27, 2014, 09:28:05 AM »
After a brief sabbatical, I am back to wanting to expand my collection.  If you have a mango tree I don't . . . I want it.  I am willing to buy or trade.

20
I have grown lazy and am looking to hire someone to spray my trees with foliar spray once a month.  You don't need to know anything, just be strong enough to put on a backpack prayer (4 gal)  (Sorry Sheehan, that counts you out).  I will give you a detailed print out of what to put into the tank and will show you the first time.  PM me if you are interested with your hourly price.  I live in Parkland so you obviously have to be willing to come here.

21
Ladies and Gents,

I have an extra Dwarf Hawaiian mango in 3 gal that is up for grabs.  I purchased it for someone and they do not want it so I am trading it away.  Send all offers (Ideally for a mango I don't have)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Mango CDO
« on: June 26, 2014, 10:14:03 AM »
Aside from Young, what other mango cultivars start with the letter "Y"?  I need one to complete the alphabet and satisfy possibly the first documented case of mango CDO.  (CDO is like OCD except the letters are in alphabetical order as they should be!)

23
Anyone who has this and is willing to trade and/or sell, please PM me.  I have tons to offer as well as good old fashioned cash.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / I guess we have been artists all along

This guy grafted 40 different stone fruits on a tree and is calling it art.  Sleepdoc, your mango trees seemingly belong in the Guggenheim
