Tropical Fruit Discussion / Honda wood chipper ?.
« on: June 27, 2018, 04:24:09 PM »
A few days ago, I went to some local hardware stores looking for wood chipper. I Went to 20 stores but I only found it in one store and they are selling multiple types (engine); Electric, diesel and Petrol. The diesel wood chipper is completely made in China (engine and body), the Petrol wood chipper comes with Honda GX390 11.7HP but the body is made in china. The Electric one is made in Brazil by trapp and it is the cheapest.

So my question is, How good is Honda GX390 engine ?. I know they are supposed to be better than Briggs and Stratton but I would love to hear more opinions.

I bought some Korlan seeds from ebay. They were shipped with coconut moss. Once I got them, I put them inside a ziplock bag with my special germination mix  8) .

It has been around three weeks since I put them inside a ziplock bag , but still no sign of life. Any idea how long they usually takes to germinate ?.

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Chinese bayberry
« on: May 27, 2018, 08:17:49 AM »

Just got some fresh Chinese bayberry from the local Asian supermarket. Hopefully the fruits are not irradiated because they taste so damn good and they are almost as big as a golf ball.

Any idea how to germinate these seeds ?.

Which mango tree you will choose if you have limited space, Banganapalli or Kesar ?.

I tried both a few years ago, and I found Kesar mango is better. However, I would like to hear more opinions about it.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / irradiated fruits and seed germination
« on: June 02, 2016, 05:41:11 PM »
I have managed to germinate Langsat, Durian, longan, lychee and jackfruit seeds that were irradiated in Thailand/Asia before exporting them. Even though they were exposed to radiation some fruit seeds seems to germinate just fine except for Rambutan and mangosteen. I always get zero germination with these two species.

Do you guys have any idea ?.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / There's a Red Malaysian jackfruit
« on: May 23, 2016, 06:18:15 PM »
I Finally had a chance to try Red (or deep orange) Malaysian  JF and It was great. it didn't taste like any regular JF that I had before and surely it wasn't sweet as the yellow ones ( could be picked too early). For me, It taste like papaya and cantaloupe mixed together but, still have the jackfruit aroma and almost latex free.

Overall, I believe it's worth growing if you have the space.

Since i live in a desert I'm looking to add more organic matter to my soil. Woodchips is certainly a better choice for me because of low sodium content. However, the price of one bag of mulch is around $10 for 10kg (22lb). Which is more expensive than a bag of NPK (I'm not kidding).

I can also get a bag of heat treated manure (cow&chicken) straight from the factory but i have to drive 155km (100 miles) from my home .Each bag cost around $2.8 for 25kg (55lb).

Same product

Any suggestion ?
