Ricardo is one of only a handful of seed suppliers that I trust.  Even with the very long transit time, never had issues with germination.

Wouldn't hesitate to order from him at all.

Please put me down for seeds too Luc.

IŽll have ripe fruit in a week or 2 . And I donŽt agree with you Adam , I find them very pleasant , crunchy , sweet and juicy . I always wait till they drop on the ground , yellow at that stage and can be peeled . Actually I planted several more . The nice part is that they fruit year round .

Thanks Adam - my friend loved the fruits.   :)

Please put me down for more... a big box or two standard - whatever's best.   ;)

3.9 pounds Adam.  Personally I've never seen a fruit so large.  Its a mature tree (over 8m tall) with all lower branches pruned off a long time ago, so fruits were high up in the canopy.  No special care at all.  Last year's crop was more abundant, but this year size seems to make up for lack of numbers.

Found this 1.8kg beauty at a friend of my mum's today.  Pretty impressive for a somewhat neglected tree.  Unknown cultivar - possibly a seedling.

If you ship to Iowa, please add me to the list.

Thanks.

Thank you Adam.

These were repotted into what I think to be the best quality acidic mix about a month back from the original seed raising mix.  Will they be able to handle another repot?  :-\  I'm not the most experienced gardener so am scared of losing them.

Thought i'd lost all my seedlings, but there's a couple that are still struggling to survive.  These were planted Nov 2013.  What am I doing wrong? What can I do to ensure their survival?

Thanks.

Excepting for the sabaras, all my jaboticabas are only small seedlings or seeds yet to germinate.  But I am very grateful to have them al - thanks to several very kind people (you know who you are  ;)

Back to sending subliminal messages for seeds then...  ;)

I think its very brave to prune jaboticabas.  I've contemplated pruning some of mine, but can't bring myself to do it!  They're too precious to me and every leaf is cherished at the moment.  ;)

I tracked down some vexator seeds from frankies nursery, it's just a waiting game. I got some aureana and scarlet coming. Should have a couple of spares if your keen

Can you say where?  :P

I greatly appreciate the list Mike.  The hunt is definitely on.

Of the jaboticabas, I only have vexator, red hybrid, trunciflora, spirito santensis, and coronata.  And here I thought aureana would complete that collection?!

Eugenias and Campomanesia are unfamiliar territories, so lots of googling when time permits.

Haven't done too badly with Garcinias - I've got small seedlings or seeds awaiting germination of all excepting acuminata and gardneriana.

Russell - sorry to hear about your most unfortunate accident.  At least some good came out of it  ;)
Being in Cairns you're already at an advantage to me - you'll no doubt have better access to things I can only dream about surely?

I too can vouch for Oscar's seeds - one batch of 10 seeds gave me 12 seedlings!!  ;D

Glamorous rarities, any/all good/great tasting species, Asians, Brazilians, I don't discriminate.   ;)  In short, I want what everyone else has!  At the moment, I'm wistfully chasing jabos, garcinias and anything I can try keep alive in a pot until I win the lottery.

I much prefer sweet fruits, but won't turn my nose up at sourish rarities.  I'm getting greedy because I don't want us here in the west loosing out...

I'm sure there should be some, since most members are of ethnic background with their own pungent food fares and since everyone likes all these exotic fruits, they should definitely give it a try if they haven't. Try a or two of clove of raw garlic smash with the chilies and fish sauce...........yum mouth watering just thinking about it ;D

Kimi.......since you like fish sauce, have you try green papaya salad? I just love that dish....super stinking, but O so good in my tummy...though too spicy and it can cause some stomach discomfort too ;)

Oh and not only is smash chilies+fish and garlic are only good to use as a dipping for hard crunchy fruits, they are good with any kind of grilled/bbq meats/seafood as well.

You too??!?! lol  the chilies, fish sauce, and garlic combo is a must have with steamed beans for me... have never tried it with fruits though...

fish sauce, ginger and chilies for seafood is to die for!! lol

papaya salad is the best!!

Kimi in Perth you could grow most of the best Brazilian Eugenias, maybe all of the jaboticabas, most great American Garcinias (like Luc's Mexican, gardneriana, sweet madrono and achachairus),many top Annona, most Pouterias, all dragonfruit and many real tropical.Getting them over the green curtain is the challenge now that WA is clamping down further.

I'm sure its only going to get worse for us here in the west - that's why I've been very desperately grabbing up whatever I can.  Would appreciate a list of must haves if you can do one up for me?  ;D

its a treat alright.  ;D  Salt with fresh birds eye chilies mashed in is a great dip for rock hard fruits (nectarines, peaches, apples, pears, guavas, etc....) - wonder if other forum members will be game enough to try the fish sauce dip?   ;D ;D ;D
