My approach to straightening/training branches is to use bamboo as a splint along the length, binding every 6-12" with cloth ties. It doesn't have to be the full length of the branch obviously, just the section that needs it. I'll then also do an in-ground stake like you did if I'm not just looking to straighten, but also grow in a certain direction.
Sometimes I'll use a length of bamboo longer than the branch and have it protrude beyond the trunk, then I use the trunk as a fulcrum and stake both ends of the bamboo, ala:

Is that an acronym for a reef forum?Since you a reefer, ever heard of WWC?Also I would add that I considered just driving to the beach with spade and a few 5 gallon buckets but decided against it as likely the sand at the beach probably has high salt content so if going that route I’d have to wash out the salt of the sand and just seemed like work so bought the play sand instead at HD.Interesting beach sand is looked at like this here, in the reef/coral aquarium community we will use play sand also and cycle it to get the impurities out but beach sand is chock FULL of bad silicates and just plain too polluted to use in a reef tank. There is also a sand sold just for reef tanks called live sand which is full of good bacteria for the aquarium. Am I rambling? lol

My most productive self fertile passionfruit, 1 plant gives maybe 200 fruit per season.I always see honey bees (amongst others) going from flower to flower but still not getting pollinated. It doesn't sound like your pollinating them yourself...getting that much fruit.

It was very simple. I started with attaching twine horizontally about a foot apart then ended up using those bamboo stakes that are about 1/4"-3/8" in diameter, you get about 6 of them at hd or lowes for a couple bucks. As they grew I helped the tentacles ( or whatever they're called lol) attach to the bamboo stakes.Here’s the size of it. The Panama red growing from the left and the federicks growing from the right.
I have a couple passion fruit plants, and I would love to grow them in the same way over a trellis. Can you give a few pointers on how you trained them? The look beautiful.

Hooking up this freebie water storage tank to the rain gutter downspout and adding a pump and a nice looking enclosure for the tank.
