Hi folks

Happy holidays season and Happy New Year!

Finnaly managed to take some days off work to collect some rare seeds from my Psidium colection.
I have now very fresh seeds of several Psidum species that may be of interest for some of you. All seeds from 2016 fruits.
Some seeds more available than others so please hurry if you're interested in some.

This is what I have available now:

Psidium longipetiolatum
Psidium australe
Psidium striatulum
Psidium firmum
Psidium myrtoides (tasty variety)
Psidium guineense
Psidium catleyanum (rare variety with huge yellow pear shapped fruits)... see the photo

Some extra info on each species on the following links:

Thanks in advance to all and enjoy 2017

Hello Miguel

Do you have Psidium longipetiolatum and guineense?

Thanks

If you can score a soft/very small seeded type that is everbearing with big fruit they are a real winner.

Thank you for your recommendation Mike. Any idea where I can find such a type?

I'm new to growing dragon fruit, but my understanding is that American Beauty and Condor are self pollinating.

Yes. Thank you for the confirmation.

Ruby Supreme,  , Honeymoon and Jalisco Red (hard to find) guavas are said to be great options.

Hi Shpaz

Have you tasted Sweet Kiss guava? How is the taste? And is it really worm resistant as claimed?

Thank you

You got pretty good suggestions on the dragonfruit varieties.

But I dont know how those do in florida but they produce well here.  My trees are loaded with s8, condors, dark stars.  Paloras its yet to see how they do in CA, havent seen anyone grow them but maybe theres a few out here.

Honestly you dont need huge pieces, it really makes little difference if you get a 1ft piece or 2ft piece.  Its going to grow.  I usually just start them from 6-8" pieces.  If its hot there, they are going to grow fast either way.  When I sell to others its usually 12"to 18" just because people think they need big pieces.

You can send a private message if you want to buy cuttings.

Brad

Agreed. DF travels well.

If you are down my way (So. Miami), can hook you up with nice sized and well-rooted Dark Star plants.

Thank you Rob. I will stop by if I am down your way.

Onur why do they need to come from FL?  I have all these dragonfruit and can send them in the mail 2 day priority no problem.

Thank you Brad.
I just thought I could go and pick them up rather than getting them shipped, so I can get longer cuttings. Two years ago, I sold my collection for almost free, now I am struggling to find few cuttings.

Brad, may I also have your opinion on 4 best dragon varieties in terms of production and flavor?

Can you send me long cuttings?

11
Which other self pollinating and self fertile ones would you recommend in terms of flavor and production?
And what is the price?

For sure yellow dragon fruit!

I tasted a store bought Giant Yellow Ecuador. Didn't really like it. Found it too sweet and flavorless. Maybe it was a bad one...

Who knows, maybe we just have very different preferences with dragon fruit.  For example any other dragonfruit aside from the yellow is basically tasteless and not worth growing for me.

You are right. Taste is personal preference. Thank you for the recommendation.

Condor
American Beauty
Sugar Dragon

I have all 3

Do you think I can grow 4 different varieties in a big container? What would be the fourth one? Would they fruit without hand-pollination?

Condor

I have all 3

Thank you for the reply. Would they bloom at the same time so they produce fruits? I guess SD will pollinate the others right? Does American beauty require hand pollination?

Hello

If you are to grow 4 different varieties of self-fertile and self-pollinating dragon fruits in the same container, which 4 would you recommend in terms of production and flavor ?

Thank you

Hello

If you are to grow 4 different varieties of dragon fruits in the same container, which 4 would you recommend, that do not require hand-pollination?
