Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Durian in US?

I let my whole durian thaw too long. It had no taste. Looked good, but bland. I'll try again, but in the meantime, I'll eat the individually wrapped pieces.

I found frozen Durian in a market an hour from where I live. They sell the full fruit and the fruit removed (with seed) from the pod. I sampled the fruit only option and it's pretty good. A little watery when thawing, but it's the best I can do landlocked here. The Asian clerk at the store told me the packed fruit is better than the whole fruit....but I plan to get the whole fruit soon to see what the difference is.

Thank you all for the replies. I'll be in Hawaii soon and hopefully can find a good durian there. Would love to travel to Thailand or Malaysia and get the super fresh durian!

Is it possible to get fresh Durian in the United States? If so, where would I find a vendor?
Thanks!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello everyone. I'm in Missouri but hoping to relocate somewhere tropical soon. I'm growing an Inga (not sure the species. Bought it from Rivers End Nursery) and black sapote in a greenhouse right now. I have cherimoya seeds I want to plant soon. I love rare tropical fruit! Cherimoya is by far my favorite and my usual supplier is not offering any for 2017. :(
So far I have tried rambutan, cherimoya, black sapote, white sapote, dragon fruit. Will be trying ice cream bean fruit very soon, which will probably be right up there with cherimoya. :)
 Mangosteen is next.
I am happy to be here and hope to learn a lot from everyone.

I am wanting to purchase some ice cream bean fruit. I'm in Missouri, so it will need to be shipped. Do you have fruit available, Mike?
Thanks.
