Just wanted to put in a good word about Fajar. I Ordered 3 uncommon mango species, all three looked fresh and viable when they quickly arrived at the house. All three were Properly packaged and shipped. I didn’t have any problems with customs (US). He Threw in something extra but I have no idea what it is. Maybe one of you guys can ID it.
His email is: Fajarkusworo@gmail.com He is great about checking his email, just be aware of his time zone!
I have no idea how to upload photos LOL
Try him out! I ordered those mangos and got international air mail for only like 25USD

Thanks and I’ll update this thread once they germinate!

Which mango species does he have? Am looking for kasturi seeds

Thanks

« on: October 31, 2017, 02:27:11 PM »
I am visiting Kenya in early December and I was wondering if there are any interesting fruit nurseries, fruit farms or botanical gardens to visit in or around Nairobi. If any of you guys can give me suggestions, I would really appreciate.

Cheers,

T

It does not look like Saba senegalsis  madd fruit.
What is the color inside ? If its white it could landolphia dulcis .
If not may be  Landolphia heudelotii.

You have one rare landolphia even rare in parts of Africa :D

I think I tried sweet tamarind from Thailand a couple of times & got zero germination. I think some others have reported success with tamarind so I think that their irradiation dosage might be erratic, even for the same species?

John

Try and soak  seeds in water for a few days first. Experimented  this here and got 90 % Germination.
Sent seeds from the same box to kenya nothing germinated.

My 2cents is I knew somebody who brought back seeds from Africa from a Baobab and grew it as a houseplant in San Francisco for 25 years. No I.D of which species.

It was at a market in Canada. I didn't buy it myself. I know it was at a market with other international fruit as well, so I might have written the Chinese part wrong. But it was labeled as "Chinese special". I supposed that if it is Chinese special it would be from China, because all other fruit has clearly written on it from which country it is.

Is the picture recent.Where in Canada? Or which store? So i can go and check them out and get some seeds.

Thank you

by the way, if you are into grafting then you can also buy a grafting tape there called "Asi Bandi". It is a 1 CM wide grafting tape made out of silicone - 1 piece sells for approximately 12 lira. Also they have very good grafting wax - sold in tins.

Thank you very much  I will go there today.  I have been seeing lots of Pomegranates on the street vendors
