Tropical Fruit Discussion / new varieties of mango trees
« on: January 29, 2017, 10:14:36 PM »
I see there are new releases of mango trees, orange essence, cotton candy, and phoenix are they available now or being released in waves? I was going to have a nursery go pick some up for me so just curious.

Any other varieties that were just released as well?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Can I grow Inga Edulis in South Florida
« on: January 28, 2017, 05:35:17 PM »
I have many varieties of inga trees and they are all doing well here in central florida

79
I got one W.sarawakensis to sprout but it got bumped one day and seemed to be doing fine but slowly died over a month  :'(, all my W.elmerii seeds rotted, its a tricky species to sprout for sure unless planted straight from the fruit.

From what ive heard in 3-5 years

81
Anyone know how long it takes for Willughbeia Elmerii  seeds to germinate?
usually 3 weeks to a month

84
Can Willughbeia Elmeri grow in south florida (zone 10a)?
It will grow fine, just needs to be protected for anything under 40F

This guys a champ, very rare color morph of the common brown anole. He lives on this pot, so cool.

Funny you have one too, i have 2 red anole in my yard. I wonder whats causes them to go red, maybe the vibes of the tropical fruit trees  ;)

Wow! You have quite the collection. Good to see someone who loves the seed to fruit/flower experience just as much as I do.
Thank you. Growing from seed is the best way in my opinion, the fruit is the bonus.

buddyguygreen....u gonna post a few update pics bro?  curious to see what 3yr look like!

Hahaha it is about time for an update, I don't think im going to post an individual picture of all 368 tropical fruit trees and to list everything will take me sometime, so i'll just take pics of everything and put a list together of the basic family's. I'll put it up maybe tomorrow or the next couple days. Been extremely busy as im sure you have also.

91
its lack of humidity and dew point, happens this time every year to mine when humidity and dew point levels are around 50% or lower. ive lost a few to this problem but some plants get severe burn on the leaves and make it through to late February- march when the humidity and dew point comes back. This year i bought giant zip lock bags and cover the top half of the plants (I use bamboo shoots to put the bag around so the plant isn't touching the bag) and mist the bag twice a day, seems to be working great so far.

92
They do start out slow, i have mine in FF ocean forest as well mixed with Happy Frog soil and they still are growing slow, a couple struggled and died while others look fine so maybe its the quality of the seeds. If anything add worming casting and bat guano, usually does the trick. I like using a little budswell bat guano worm casting liquid tea mixed with water for small delicate seedlings, it has saved a few of mine.

A picture of your plants may help identify the problem correctly.

Thanks for the heads up, ive been eating my fill of medjool from the store but their cheaper online in bulk, I was looking at other online sites to order a few other varieties in bulk so i'll order some from these guys now. I see they have Barhi dates, Haven't had those since i was in California years ago, they are ridiculously good.

Thank you, I did turn the pot a few months ago but its still growing to one side. I will be planting it next year in a nice sunny area, Don't need to protect mango trees in my area.

« on: November 26, 2016, 12:44:06 AM »
Curious what's going on, it looked fine until a month ago when leaves started falling off the top branches and some burning and yellowing showed but Most the leaves look great. Haven't done anything different so figured i would seek help. Just watered it with micros, kelp, humic acids and yucca extract so it would help the nutrients absorb better.

Also the tree is growing mostly to one side which was facing the sun, how should i balance it out with trimming or will it balance out on its own.

The first leaves are dark green and round, different than most garcinia species with pointed leaves. You'll be able to tell when they sprout. Post a pic here when you think they have sprouted just for verification.
