I am also a heavy pruner of passiofruit.  Timings important. If The fruiting point has passed, likely given you have seen flowers and see none now, I would say it would be time to prune vines withno fruit set.  I generally just wait until winter after harvesting.  My vines took a few years to get going (poor shallow soil) and every year I cut them back to about 3-5 ft tall.  You will soon be familiar with what the buds look like.  I hand pollinate also.  I wondered if cross pollination gives better fruit set.  I have a new one fruiting this year for the first time, much earlier than the other types I have.  Normally don't see fruit until the fall. It have 2 on this vine (from 3 flowers).  Added a new orange (sweet) passiofruit to the mix this year.

Any suggestions on where seeds for these can be obtained?

I have 3 year old trees from seed.  No flowers yet.  Trees are a good 4 ft tall, maybe taller.

Mike T - if I had "known" your were in Cairns we could have connected last year when I was there.  How is the elderly lady with the big fruit orchards and fruit stand near port Douglas area?  I have to recall her name.  She had a ridiculous collection of trees that made even Harry's look like a warm up.

Here is a link.  http://puntacanatv.com/fruteros-fruit-stalls-in-punta-cana.html

Thanks Karen and CT.  Yes, being cooped up in an artificial resort is safe and boring.  I've seen many a country market on a least 3 continents so have no problem handling myself in that regards.  I'd really like to see where the locals shop rather than the tourist traps.  Even the hotel workers must but food somewhere...

Thanks TD.  I live in Bermuda so am not interested in touristy things unless they are beyond what I can do in my own country.  It looks I will be restricted to the eastern area as driving 150 miles isn't my thing.  Understanding that tourist prices are greatly inflated, what do you pay for, say, a mango locally?  What kinds of things should I expect to see ripe in July?

I did last night find a map showing some "fruteras" that looked good.

I will be in the Dominican Republic for 4 days in July for a conference.  The area I am going to be in (punta cana) looks like a tourist trap with a few fruit stands here and there from what I can see online.  Any suggestions from anyone that has been there, done that regarding fresh fruits, nurseries (not that I can buy plants).  I may have half a day to look around.

Amazing story and photos.  Now I must add Guam to my places to visit list, right below Fiji.  Please invite me next year to the festival!  :)  ;D

Slick video and results.  Well done.  I have been using these for years but have not transplanted out of one yet.  Thanks.

I volunteer to cat-sit!

Hi Mango lovers, I received a Lemon Meringue Mango tree (3 gallon) as a gift for Cat Sitting for a friend...she knows I LOVE Mangoes. Does anyone have any pictures of their tree? What are its growth habits? Would you say like a Keitt or Kent? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info on the internet...especially pictures of trees that are a few years old. I think this is a fast grower so it will get "pugged" at least once or twice a year. I will keep it potted up for at least a year or two...

Any pictures or info on this mango is appreciated...Thanks in advance!!

Very slick.  I must find a way to import grafted trees from the canary islands.
