I just potted up some seedling Golden Pearls ( Solanum villosum) and Wonderberry (Solanum retroflexum). I have extra seedlings of both if anyone wants to pick up the seed tray. I'm in Lake Forest, CA.

Thanks all for the useful information. Scott, I hadn't known that about their salt tolerance/preference ,  good to know. I have a sunny spot near where my orange goji thrive. I might just visit the beach to collect a very small amount of beach sand to mix in with native loam where these will end up. Thanks again.

Some of what I've read says it induces hormones that increase production.

I love the fruits of my Morus nigra, but production seems concentrated on branches naturally bending down. I read that bending down branches promotes production and reduces vertical vigor. Any one know how effective this is on mulberry?

The home Depot in Lake forest have been carrying this brand's Hailey comet for a couple months. Was pleased to see they finally had a named variety.

Gary is also just a nice guy. Knows his stuff, especially when it comes to soil. I buy odds and ends from him though his selection is not necessarily for crazy zone pushers. He stocks mostly plants he knows will thrive in the orange county area. Good selection of those. Nice source of figs too.

The cherimoya tasting in Irvine mentioned  is a must.  Free, usually a dozen plus varieties,  and you can purchase bags of them at an extremely low price to take away.

Solko probably has the right idea here, but instead of picking,  I'd take the whole darn branch with fruits still attached, put the branches in a pail of water and take indoors to ripen naturally on the branch. Branches should survive a month or two, especially if you remove leaves. It's not ideal, and I've never had to do it, but it might work.

This place has a few like Elite Gold, Smooth Cayenne and Kona white. Seems reasonably priced though I have yet to buy anything from them.

Hi Behl, my sweet tart  has gone through several flushes this summer, no tip burn by the heat, although a few leaves got blanched spots when it got over a hundred for a few days. Growing like a weed.

NullZ, yeah I have a line on it, haven't asked yet but I'm hoping he can help. I got the rainbow from him, and the prior taste of Malibu.

Barath, thanks, that's very encouraging.  What type of graft works best for you? I've only ever done a few whip grafts before, though with good success on mulberry.

I have an in ground Rainbow that has grown from a 10 inch grafted plant to over 3ft in the last year. It's been flushing like crazy the last 5 months and is still pushing out growth now.  I really want to graft Malibu #3 on it (maybe half the tree) as I got the opportunity to taste that variety and it was amazing. My question is that should I start Frankensteining this little tree at it's small size, or wait until it is more mature. And if I can, is it OK to graft White Sapote in the middle of summer?
