Wait , did you say shilajit? That's some rare , powerful stuff. I've only heard of it for human consumption. How is it not too expensive to add to a soil mix and what's the benefit.
Thanks!

Try giving them some kelp and minerals, should help with the scale.

I have mine in a gallon root pruner pot in some ocean forest/happy frog soil/ancient forest mix, im giving it the works added some shilajit, azomite, mycogrow, bio zeus and mykos mycorrhizal and only water with composted rain water. Im making sure its going to grow to its fullest extent.

Thanks I know, just saw the itinerary and might make it down.
Not looking for info on wolfskill tastings or association meetings & tastings but the granddaddy of the fruit gatherings.
I still have yet to taste a dragonfruit with any sweetness. I know they're out there , just not the normal white flesh/red skin that seems to be the only I ever happen to see for sale.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / CRFG Festival of Fruit

I though this question would work itself out in due time but it's almost August , the month the Festival of Fruit is typically held and maybe I missed something but... What's up?
No festival or announcement regarding the festival this year?

Argument done on that note... For real though .
Loud and quiet vegetarians alike choose the diet for myriad different reasons, not just because they choose to be more more healthy. There are plenty of unhealthy "chipitarians" eating potato, corn chips and pasta and carbs to survive, not so balanced. Most I've met are over the factory farming of animals or just killing of animals in general , or the gnarly process associated with "processing" thie animals.
I didn't watch, avoid hype on both sides.

But where's all the "glory" and ego stroking in that?
Re-naming "new varieties" is one of the most confusing things to perpetrate on the garden community.
Not answering questions about your magnificent new creation furthers the confusion.

Naranja mango aka Mutant LZ
Looks like OS

I don't think what you have is a bud sport. I think it's simply a phenotypical difference based on the environmental conditions.

A few years ago in Australia, the government went around the country and collected what they thought were many different variations of Kensington Pride. They took all of these different selections and planted them all in one location. Once they started to fruit, they all were the exact same KP. I think that is what you're experiencing.

I think you should really hold back on the constant re-naming of your "new varieties" and "bud sports". Why don't you plant some monoembryonic seeds and name the resulting tree instead of constantly trying to re-name other peoples varieties?

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to ship mangos to California due to the state regulations there.

Thus the circle is complete. Your about as likely to be eating Mexican Mangosteens  in LA as a good Mango, unless you grow it.

163
I just cut down a tree of Pakistan mulberry yesterday and processed the cuttings for clones last night.
Please send a PM as I can easily ship these.

Said every TFF member in California.

Raul on the fruit hunt once again! Glad you made it back to these 2 special Luc's tree's and looking forward to pictures of the fruit. Give thanks for acquiring scion to share.

I totally understand your desire to grow these amazing, beautiful, deliciously fruiting trees.
If your in Milpitas ,CA than even with the aid of a 20k greenhouse and a professional grower of Langsat and Pulasan your going to need 10 + years and lots of luck. An ambitious undertaking to be sure but nothing is impossible.

I have Cherimoya seeds recently collected. $1 a piece. or 15 for $20. From a smooth & thin skinned type. PM how many you need and where you are at and I will tell you what shipping would be.

A good initial fruit hustle. At 20 plus seeds an unknown variety you'll be eating all the Cherimoya you desire and get paid to do it!  I roast ,but really , welcome and post some more.
The numbers on your pitch is funny math though.

Something else entirely. Here's a link to an article that describes it from the source.

What is a "ginger lime"?

Is that a type of finger lime or desert lime or something else?

171
I had about 50% success rate from cuttings of E. Latifolia, E. Ebbingei and the "unknown Goumi relative " that's circulating Bay Area rare fruit circles but as we know timing and other factors can affect a batch of cuttings . It seems very easy to grow and despite climbing characteristics previously mentioned I think in my climate it could be a nice understory crop like cape gooseberry .

172
Give thanks

173
I love the smell and taste of finger lime skin.
That one really sticks out to me as unique. Also the "Ginger" lime is special , leaves and zest.

174
It can be confusing to lump those plants together as "tropical" especially if someone read your information and was considering growing these .
I'm sure some people do consider these tropical the same way people confuse lots of things.

Feijoa, not tropical, does not fruit in the ... Tropics.
The others can grow in the Sub tropics or tropical .
FYI tropical fruits include mangosteen, Durian, coconut none of which fruit anywhere in California.

Tropicals...NONE.

You need to plant for your location, unless you like plant genocide

If "some" mangoes survive. Then most would.  Will mangoes survive, thrive and produce well...highly doubtful.

People consider dragonfruit, jujube, white sapote, banana, avocado, feijoa, passionfruit, guava and jackfruit tropical...

The sod musn't go in.
