Some people here have reported the fruit having the good smell effect here  I don't know where in Java the original selections came from to be brought here.
I think originally from Yogyakarta, because formerly Kepel fruit only can be found in the kingdom of Yogyakarta, then the fruits spread everywhere.

That is great because the fruit also makes the women infertile for a while and it wouldn't be a nice fruit if they stay infertile forever  ;D
Well, the fruit used by Javanese Princesses as contraception.

The park tree that I have been keeping an eye on looks like a twin of the one maryoto posted with fruit at the same stage of development.ETR mid to late Feb.

Maybe there is another variety in Australia? It is strange that the one that you ate doesn't make you smell like violets while many websites mention that property.

Also i think it is strange that this tree is unknown in Thailand but there sure will be a reason for that.
I also think the same as you, there may be other varieties of Kepel fruit that is not known.
But Kepel from Yogyakarta really make smell like violets.
But I make sure that the scent was just a little and not strong, it also does not smell permanently.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: 2014 Official Forum Auction!
« on: January 20, 2014, 08:38:51 PM »
Thanks for the offer, but we aren't taking monetary donations at the moment. Maybe we can auction of things like books or DVDs for non-US members.
I may not be able to follow the auction of this plant, because it will be difficult to import plants into Indonesia.
Importing seeds and plants into Indonesia is very difficult though to have a complete documents, because Indonesian customs is corrupt.
An auction of things like books or DVDs is a good idea,it could also farm tools.
I'll wait for that auction.

What if donate money,Sheehan?

But non-US members will be too long when sending the seeds,so the seeds may have not received when the auction is over.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Bad durian season, too much rain
« on: January 19, 2014, 07:44:37 AM »
Here the rain began to fall 1 month ago,and at the start of flowering durian.
Many flowers fell,so not much fruit that survives, and this time the wind also started blowing hard.
The rain also affects other fruit.

That's a great picture of a Kepel tree fruiting. Thank you for posting, I did not know that Kepel fruit even existed. Now that I know of its existence, I would love to see a Post, on this Forum, mention about a Kepel fruit tree (variety) that produces quality, sweet tasting fruit.

Are there different varieties of Kepel fruit trees?
No, there is only one variety of Kepel tree.
The image is Kepel fruits that is immature and still young fruits, the fruit will ripen around the end of February-at the beginning of maret.

Maybe if planted in different places, there is little difference in taste of the fruit.

By eating this fruit, sweat and your breath does smell nice.
But that's just a little fragrance, and not permanent.
It's not strong smells like perfume.

Thanks

In because I've got 2 pieces nangkadak again, then the seeds are no longer restricted stock.
Therefore,I will do fair by lowering its price to $3 USD per one seed.

To order, send your complete address(including postal code and your phone number)

Hi guys, where did you get this information that eat the fruit then you will be issued a smell like flowers?
But here if people eat this fruit then breath and sweat smell is fragrant.
But it does not smell of flowers and strong smells like perfume.
I do not know why it does not happen at your place.
Maybe you need to try Kepel fruit that is planted in Yogyakarta to compare it.

493

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Nangkadak
« on: January 14, 2014, 09:26:10 AM »
Just wondering, is nangkadak just another name for champejak (the jackfruit / champedak hybrid) or is this a select cultivar of this hybrid?

John
Hi John,
I don't know if nangkadak is another name for champejak,or may be some members call call nangkadak as champejak.
But Nangkadak is a hybrid by cross pollination between a female jackfruit/mini jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) from Riau and a male chempedak (Artocarpus integer) from Leuwiliang, Bogor.

Pictures was taken yesterday afternoon - The fruit will be ripe around March.
