Sure but I'm in orange county ca. I have a maganha mamey  it's been in the ground for 2 years. If it's a seedling it will take a decade to fruit at lease that's how long it takes out here.

No Alexi
the closes to Spanish is Portuguese. French is a difficult language to speak but very easy to read and write for a Spanish speaker.

We are getting closer Tropicdude. They are NOT thin skin as you mention and manzanos texture is firmer. I remember you tried to ID them in the other thread. when you have a chance post the video.

I have heard of stories of a fruiting guanabana in Santa Ana but I seriously doubt it. From all indications they will wilt and never recover in our winter if you put them in the ground.

You are right Alexi but they don't taste like manzanos. They are an unknow banans that I got them from a coworker who got the tree from dude that said they were from Thailand. I have a post in the GW with a pic of the tree.

Torrance has great weather sunset zone 24 so you might able to succeed with sugar apples.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Atemoya vs Cherimoya
« on: January 20, 2012, 10:15:46 PM »
With all due respect to Harry and Floridagreenman I will stick to my story. In a comparison taste test between them( Atemoya and Cherimoya) - I forgot to add Vietnamese Atemoya to the list of Atemoyas I've tasted- the Atemoya taste grainy and, leaves me and my 6 family members, a bit of an aftertaste. This is NOT my recollection this is a real time taste test.

Welcome to this new forum! I see everything is nicely and tugged away for the winter. Boy, your collection is getting way up there in the Jacob range! Talking about Jacob, has anyone informed Jacob of our exodus of GW? I'm going to drop him an email later tonight.

Harry, I'm comparing them to cherimoya. I've tried geftner, bradley and african pride atemoya and they seem to fall short to a cherimoya in texture and taste. IMO, Cherimoyas are la creme de la anonas.

Felipe. I was talking about Atemoya in general. I notice after I arrived from Mexico that I accidentally
left a few custurd apple seeds in my pocket, among other seeds 8) I gave Jacob 3 or 4 and I kept 3. All of them sprouted in late summer one seedling survive.

Thanks Tropicalgrower

that's a great video! I have the Ruby X and they are very nice mild guavas. You might want to try Mexican Cream I would rank this as the #1 guava of the 9 guava trees I have.

DT

This one is very productive the only problem is half of them mummify before maturity. Santa Ana and Cypress are the two cities that I know who have had sucess with Sugar Apples.

Null LOL

I tried to bribe the caretaker. They might be worthy just because they are late mangos. I have two more mangos to go if the flavor improves I'll return  8)

I have not forgotten you with the Vietnamse Atemoya.  Geffner and African Pride are easy to obtain in Socal try roger meyer he has both. I wouldn't recommend the Vietnamse or Geffner Atemoyas African Pride is the best in that group.
