Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Cherimoya Santa Monica Farmers Market
« on: January 26, 2018, 10:20:01 AM »
Those may have come from Jay Ruskeys farm. Jay is a great guy and sells his Cherimoya at the Santa Monica Farmers market if I remember correctly. Ive never met him in person but I emailed him several times and ordered fruit from him multiple times. He had Cherimoyas and his own Annona hybrid which is a Cherimoya x Atemoya cross. His fruit are excellent quality!

Yucatán scions are all sold out. This year anona scions sale starts February 15 for the Florida guys only. Everyone else March 1st. Look at the selections on this thread there will be little change for 2018.

The Zill family is a pillar in the mango community. I hope we can resolve the sonpari mystery when behl get's more pix from his contacts in India.

Mark that’s horrible! You are a man of strength and not a quitter but it still hurts. Let me know how I can help

Great detective work Squam. We bought anwar and chausan from this person last year and the unique T bud grafts caught my attention. I told my friend whoever grafted these trees must have worked for Zill. I was assure this guy was legit. According to your research I have a Julie and Alfonso or a  Himsagar which I have no interest in growing.

82
I can now confirm that the trees GuavaKing is selling on eBay are fakes.

Enjoy your Alphonso, Julie and Nam doc Mai trees.

Alex this is actually from Noris

This is unfortunate I was recommended this seller as legit.
Behl is correct I’ve seen pix of the real sonpari and the leaves tell the story

Let’s see photos of the leaves then.

I hope Behl shares then

I prefer to plant it now let it establish some roots and graft in late July. But I’ve also potted and grafted in June. Why pug it if you are going to use it as rootstock?

Beautiful drops Frank, you have developed quite the food forest right in town amazing! You've got the almost perfect climate down there congrats 8) :)
Yeah Frank we were supposed to get 2"-3" but got only 1.4 inches over night but we'll take it, still not enough to wash salt's down below rootline. Down south Santa Barbara to Ventura got hammered which they didn't need after fire!!

Same here Robert, barely over 1”.  We’ll take it but we playing catch up and I highly doubt we are going to get 14” in February and March......looks like life water restrictions back again.
