If atemoya season is about now, how come my tree has flowers and no fruit ?
If flowers and fruit will not survive winder months, should I remove them from the tree as they come out ?

How do small nurseries stay in business ?  Economics do not seem to work.  To have say 350k in annual revenue, one must sell 10,000 trees a year in 3gal, that seems a stretch for a small nursery, though reasonable for big ones.  Besides, after cost of material and labor, that may leave no profit.

Sap comes right out of the fruit.  I put a little squeeze on it and more oozed out.  There does not seem to be visible bug damage to the fruit, unless some tiny bug makes tiny holes and enters the fruit.  I guess it is a wait and see for now.

Papaya is supposed to be TR Hovey, however the two of them I ordered online have very different flowers and color of the plant itself, so there is a good chance one of them is not TR Hovey.  This papaya has some red/purple coloring on the tree and stems and large flowers, the other one is all green and small flowers, both seem to be female.

Thank you folks, this gives me courage to swap out the soil by moving a smaller size root ball.  Will keep fig as is, it seems not to mind tight soil.

One other idea comes to mind - may be replace soil in quarter sectors, e.g remove 45deg entirely vertically, including smaller roots in that section and replace with better potting soil.  Repeat in a month with the next section.  After 4 cycles it should be all fresh potting soil.  Anybody has done this ?  Better or worse ?

My very first DF harvest from a cutting planted a year ago.  This is Natural Mystic and has been very easy to grow.  Mild but pleasant taste and smell.  Much better than one bought in the store for $5/lb.

First, thanks to Slopfog for raising this question because I deal with exactly the same problem and was also wondering about it.

Having read this, I mixed vinegar with water about 25-75% and watered the Miracle Fruit tree with it.  Hope this helps lower PH and makes the tree happy enough to fruit from the flowers.

Thanks bsbullie, i picked up that wax jambu at Excalibur, not sure what variety it was though.  I will try Kent again in August, thanks for the advice !

Canesgirl, the black sapote was picked up at Truly Tropical few weeks ago.  it may be off season now, though experts on this forum will know better than me if any variety is still in season.

Both Truly Tropical and Excalibur sell tropical fruits in season, both are great.  Try google "excalibur nursery" and "truly tropical mango" to get their addresses.  Both are in Palm Beach County.  truly tropical has a blog - you will find using google - that usually shows what fruit is available that week.

Other than that, Boys Market in Delray Beach sells tropical fruit usually, though i have never seen black sapote there.

I fully recognize that individual tastes differ, and that the same fruit/variety can have a very large spectrum of quality depending on soil, climate, and even random chance.  Plus I am not a professional taster by any means.  So this nothing but my personal assessment of few new ones I tasted over the last few weeks.

Just to to give you a sense of scale - anything below 7 I will still eat but will not buy when much better options are available to buy.

Carrie mango - loved its sweetness and pine tone, 10 out of 10.  I just could not stop eating.
Bombay mango - good quality, not great, 7 out of 10
Kent mango - good quality, not special, 6 out of 10
Haden mango - ok at best, 4 out of 10
Tofu(?), store bought mango - very nice overall, reminded me of Ataulfo sold by Costco (may be the same), 10 out of 10
Wax jambu - ok at best, not sure what else to say, 4 out of 10
Jaboticaba black - good, exotic, but not amazing, 7 out of 10.  Frankly, expected more, Muscadine grape beats Jabo in my book, but will give it another chance.
Longan, store bought - excellent juicy taste, 10 out of 10.  I can see how longan can be addictive.
Lychee, store bought - excellent juicy taste, 10 out of 10.  Also addictive.
Rambutan, store bought - excellent taste, but seed skin was sticking to the fruit flesh and made it difficult to eat; inferior to Lychee and Longan.  8 out of 10.
Sapodilla, one what looked like Alano, another unknown much bigger and round - both excellent, 10 out of 10.  Eats like a sugary dessert.
Black Sapote - pleasant surprise, 8 out of 10. Not too sweet, but nice texture and good to eat
Canistel - super sweet (may be too sweet for some), another pleasant surprise, 8 out of 10

Kumquat, fig, and jackfruit are in pots, the rest are inground. The water comes for a canal behind the backyard.
I will try soap water and miracle grow.
I googled citrus leaf miner and it does look like it.  Advise on forums seems to be just do nothing, which is easy enough.

...I must say,  I'm a little ambitious, I'm attempting to grow a grafted Jackfruit in a pot. Will probably end up in a cubic metre pot going by the size they can get to, with heavy pruning.

Nice to know I am not the only one attempting to grow Jackfruit in a pot.  I have a young MAI2 in what looks like a 15-20gal pot, and no hope for fruit for few years or possibly ever.

How is Jujube working out in a container ?  What variety ?  Does it fruit ?

I also have in containers indefinitely:
   Fig - fruits fine
   Miracle fruit - fruits well
   Guava - TBD
   Avocado (Choquette)  - though i would definitely NOT recommend keeping this in a pot
   Strawberry tree - fast grower so far, flowers and fruit fine
   Longan (Kohala) - TBD
   Kumquat (Meiwa) - heavy fruiter
   Dwarf banana - TBD
   Acerola - in a 3gal and already flowers
   Mango (Fairchild, Lancetilla) - hoping for fruit next year

Thinking about keeping more in pots indefinitely:
   Atemoya
   Dragonfruit
   Persimmon
   Soursop/Guanabana
   Mango (Keitt, Kent)

To make it clear: this is out of necessity - no more space in ground.  Other than possibly Fig, which seem to like their roots tight and also hate nematodes, I would definitely plant them in ground if space were available.
