It could be.  I tend to have a heavier hand in watering so I may over water a bit.  I usually fertilize with slow release citrus fertilizer once every other month.  maybe I need to get them some foliar spray.  My coconut cream and alphonso (not pictured) are more vigorous trees with the trunk about the size of coke can.  But I am not sure it that's simply because they are in a sunnier location (they are south facing and gets direct sun all afternoon) or simply because they are more vigorous.

My Peach cobbler.  I pugged it upon purchase and it seems to be doing well

Kesar mango.  Grows really nicely.  Put out a lot vegetative growth last year

Sweet tart.  Bought as three gallon from florida.  Not much vegetative growth

My ugly betty.  Also pugged upon purchase and have a very dwarfish growth habbit for me

This is my lemon zest on turpinetine.  Very vigorous grower though it seems chronically thirsty (though i was told lz always have wavy leaves and behave like its has too little water). 1 year in ground and spent a year in the pot

This is my mahachinok.  Pretty vigorous. 2 years in ground. Gave me a few fruits last year

Keitt mango.  Tall and lanky.  Behaves like a dwarf for me in ground

This is my irwin, bought as 7 gal.  Behaves like an ultra dwarf

I have a necta zee nectarine and a honey babe peach.  They grow well in pots and remain very dwarf for me.  They are not terribly productive.  I also notice that there are certain pest that eat the young fruit when they are gravel sized which might be ur problem.  I dont care for them too much so i dont care if the insects have some of peaches

My wax apple set about 15 fruits in a 15 gallon last year so its doable.  Guava produced well for me but can become big fast

Champa nursery in el monte had some sapodi available when i went there last year.

They fruit in a 15g pot for me in clusters.  However I would say that it is cultivar specific.  I had a black pearl before but it was not as productive as my thai perfume

In yard in cerritos, they like full sun though i have one in less sunny spot and they do fine.  The fruits split in the summer if u dont give it enough water though

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: My Alphonso Mango Bloom
« on: April 05, 2015, 01:16:51 AM »
Last year i had the same problem with the alphonso last year.  Heavy bloom but all the bloom turned back and died.  I got one friuit from it last year.  This year i sprayed copper and there is more fruit set and less black bloom spikes.  U probably need ur alphonso to grow a bit more before u let it hold fruit though , the mango is quite big and i am not sure if ur alphonso can hold that weight

Gone now.  I have more rooms for mangos now

I have ordered a few mango from the seller.  Was not packed as well as TT but is still good packing.  All the mango survived and doing well.  Appears legit and plants are as described though her photos are way off from the real thing.  Not a bad deal for californians

86
I would have to say the assessment is correct.  I had both good experience and bad from TT before.  i got most of my mangoes from them but i live in california so their prices and packing is reasonable.  I also had a sapodilla that I ordered from them that shortly demised after arrival.  Unsure if its them or me though.  Overall, its not a bad price for californians.  Shipping at least for mangoes are well done.

Greenmart in orange does have some lychees the last time i went there.  Dont remember what varieties they have though.  They do have a lot of asian varieties fruit trees (i think the owner is taiwanese/chinese)

88
My coconut cream also with a very willow like growth in southern california.  It blooms so much some are actually touching the ground.

I have a cotton candy aprium.  It''s extremely sweet.  I like it but some may not.  It's low chill (~300 hr) Aprium seems to be only stone fruit that my wife consistently will eat.  (though she does occasionally eat a portion of a peach)

90
Trying to consolidate my collection and will be getting rid of my 20th century asian pear.  Tree is about 6 ft tall in a 20 gallon pot.  Local pickup only.  Should bring truck or suv given size.  Sorry pot not included.  Need it for another plant.

91
When u say prune the cherimoya, do u mean stripping all leaves or just the tiny fruit?

92
My fruit trees

Ice cream mango flowering

Kesar mango flowers

Multi-graft asian pears

Sweet tart mango flowers

Lemon zest blossooms

Campas cherimoya

Lemon zest fruitlets

93
I bag my mangoes with nylon netting bags I bought from ebay.  It probably won't protect against squirrels though.

Have a fuyu.  They are very slow growing the two years i have them but they did give me fruit the second year in ground.  I was told that they will take off in the third year in ground so we will see this year.  I will probably graft other varieties on it at some point

kesar and alphonso are both on the vigorous side for me in southern california so I would imagine it would also be a big tree in florida.

96
I have a 25 gallon asian pear tree for sale.  10 dollars or best offer or trade.  Live in cerritos, close to la.  Sorry at this price it wont come in the pot that its currently in.

I am getting rid of it to make more room for mangos
Pm me if interested.

I originally thought the root was the stalk for the sprout until it started growing side branches.  I am guessing I should just keep it in the soil and not check any more.  I hope I don't end up overwater because I am too inpatient  ;D

Hi.  I got some eugenia neonitida (pitangatuba, starcherry) seeds.  Its been 14 days since I sown it.  Looks like some seeds are rooting out but I don't see any leafing yet.  How long does it take to germinate these seeds?

99
Sometimes champa nursery in el monte would carry them.  U might be able to call them up and have them order a specific variety with their next shipment.  They were selling some coconut cream backiin september

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Golden Queen Mango?
« on: January 10, 2015, 02:05:29 PM »
Yes the guy who developed it in taiwan was named Huang Jin Huang so the mango was named after him.  His name literally translates to golden royalty which is why I guess some people call this golden queen.
