I noticed there were a few posts that the prices were not listed. All posts now require the price of each item or your post will be deleted.

Must have missed that post . 1 Euro each to make things easy for Europeans . 1 USD for the rest of the world . Shipping depends on the weight and location .

Normally when in season they are sold here on street-corners ( yellow variety ) , slightly acid , like Paul Recher said heavy fruiter and a nice addition to a guava collection .

I used to have 3 fruiting size trees , close to 5 meters tall , all 3 planted in a 1 M2 spot . They were doing great till one day they started to decline and died within 2 weeks . They were planted too close to a brook and had their roots constantly wet ...my mistake .... Since they are savanna trees I guess they like it dry . Planted 3 more 2 meters now .

86
Any updates to the trees described in this post?

I'll take few photos when I'm there next month.  Marangs are the best.  When young they always respond with 3 new branches below the cut.

I got several marangs fruiting ( 5 plus meters tall ) do you think it would be wise to cut them down to lets say 3 meters ?

I must have missed your post from Januari 2016 , glad I found it now , great info , thank you .

88
Well , now that I have 2 dwarfs fruiting i must say that almost every singe seed produced a tree , some even multiple ...I finally got a hold of the " regular size " this one is a super fast grower , not sure how tall it's gonna be when adult , grew 100 cm in just a few months . Has anybody tasted these ( the large fruited one )

89
Kind of interesting information .

Months ago I was asked for fresh Mexican Garcinia fruits to be sent to a far away place . Picking these fruits one small 6 - 7 cm , under-develloped , totally green and hard as a stone also fell on the ground . I didn't want to send that one also so I kept it in my workplace , no refrigeration . The fruit ripened by itself and stayed good for several months , no rot . Never had the chance to try it , my wife cleaning my work area threw it away a few days ago ....

90
Thank you Roy , if it is cowa then I am good ...

91
Hi Roy , is male and female needed to get fruit ? I still don't have this one btw....

Same thing here ....no email notifications on PMs .

93
Joe , there's no fast way from Brazil since exporting seeds is not allowed otherwise they could use Fedex or similar . For Asia that's what I use .

94
I had 3 trees , all 3 started from seed from the same fruit , fruited in 4 years , had to cut one down ...way too much fruit . One has oval and the other round fruits.

95
Congratulations Oscar !  4 years for Mike , 8 years for Peter and 12 for you ....mine is 9 years so there's hope .

Well , I bought the " Gamo " that Raul suggested . A big soup spoon in 5 liters of water , the plant is back to normal and doing better than before . Pleased with this great result I did the same thing on a vexator that was staying behind compared to the other one . It made a huge difference , this one is also thriving now . All that in a very short time ....2 weeks maximum . I am gonna poor some of this stuff on all my plants that are not doing 100 %.

One year later , lots of side branches , doing extremely well but still no fruit . Wasn't sure how to handle this one water wise so I kept it on the dry side watering once a week , although Panama and Colombia are pretty wet , worked well . Is close to 3 meters now .

Luc Im heading to Leon and Nayarit to visit family before going to my house to yucatan. How far are you from Nayarit to try those limoncillos?

Not far from Nayarit , 3 hours driving mas o menos , but unfortunately the season is over JF.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Bilimbi ....not acid ..
« on: July 08, 2017, 08:43:17 PM »
Finally got to taste my own bilimbi , fruits were only about 10 cm long ( no idea how large they get in their natural habitat ) Found a few fruits on the ground and was prepared to have my tong burned ( was also eager to use the fruit to clean the blade of an antique Malaysian Kris ( dagger / sword ) I read somewhere that's what they use the fruit for besides in cooking ) Surprise ....I am not gonna say it was sweet like a mango but for sure a lot sweeter than some of my Eugenia pyriformis . First I just licked the fruit ( cut in half ) almost no acidity so I took a good bite 1/2 of the fruit . I didn't have to run to the pharmacy for anti acid pills at all , was actually a pleasant flavor . Now the question is : did I end up with one of those kinda rare sweet ones ( thanks to my Indian friend who send me the seeds )
