Tropical Fruit Discussion / Tagging trees
« on: March 24, 2017, 12:04:39 PM »
Hi,
I have a question to all. What do you use for tagging trees. I used plastic tags and write on them with a permanent marker. But often after some time it fades out. Any hints on close to permanent labels will be appreciated!

Thanks,

The tree that I found was a single isolated tree. It is not dioecious!

Thanks to all  who ordered seeds. Most of the packages went out. Those who need tracking numbers please send me a PM. I have few seeds left.
What is the pulp ratio in Duguetias some have asked? Ok with all Duguetias one of the things u got to get used to is that with every bit u also get a good amount of seeds in the mouth. The pulp is around the seeds so u  suck the pulp while the seed is in the mouth and then spit out the seed. Each segment u see on the outside has  its own chamber going to the center of the fruit. The ones that are well pronounced have seeds and the ones closer to the branch that feeds the fruit have mostly no seeds. Nevertheless all segments have pulp. The best way to enjoy the fruit is not to cut it, like u would do with an Annona, but to peal off the outside skin when fully ripe and than u bit in it.  This way u dont eat segment by segment but many segments at once. The marcgraviana has a more creamy peach like pulp, whereas the other one is more juicy, fragrant taste. Hope this helps.

Duguetias have never been cultivated I find the trees in the wild. But I would guess after 5 to 6 years. Duguetias have a long tap root the Duguetia sp. is surviving in avery harsh savannah environment and grows back even after a fire passes.

It depends with optimum conditions can be within 3 month period.

How about disease resistance of all these wonderful varieties? Particularly how susceptible are they to anthracnose?
