Anxious to hear how they taste and how much flesh vs seed .  I have three of these trees in my yard but they're only 2 or 3 years old (2 or 3 feet tall)

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to the forum.  How productive is the tree for you?
Are you growing any other varieties of persimmons, and if so, how productive have they been?

Thanks!

I have a few hundred pineapple plants growing in my yard from store tops.  Here is how I have done it, with just about 100 percent success rate.

Twist top off pineapple  (no need to cut).  Place top in ground with thick layer of mulch around it.  Water for 5 seconds with the hose, every other day for 1 to 2 weeks.

That's it.  I don't even fertilize.  This has produced many delicious pineapples over the past couple of years.

I would not say that the sugar loafs are a lot better but just different than the store pineapples. They are both very nice.

Fairchild sounds good.  But Honey kiss sounds even better since it would extend the season.

Thanks Rob!

Thanks Rob. Looks like we won't be able to extend the season. So maybe its better to focus on having three trees wth similar growth habits.  Would Cogshall have similar growth habit?  Any other choices?

My dad now has Maha Chanok and Pickering.   He has one more spot in the yard for a third mango tree.  Can anyone suggest another tree with similar growth habit?  Possibly something earlier or later (aren't these two varieties both mid season? )

« on: June 03, 2016, 06:54:09 PM »
As I was cleaning a Mai 3 jackfruit today, I found out a quick way to remove latex from knives and hands: Dawn dishwashing liquid.

I'm sure a lot of you already know this but I thought I would share that it in case it helps people who are new 2 cleaning jackfruit.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Free 4ft 'Amber' jackfruit seedling trees!
« on: February 06, 2016, 01:22:08 PM »
Sorry just noticed you wanted replies on the forum instead of a message. I would love to get an amber seedling.  I am near Sarasota about half a mile from the gulf, in an area where coconut palms grow fine.  I have jackfruit trees in the ground already, and they have taken the past two winters fine.

I could pick up Monday if still available.  Thanks!!

Sheehan

I'm not a newbie here.  I was just hoping someone with more experience could definitively tell me if these were new Slips / suckers or fruit.

Sorry if I jumped to react to your posting.  Its just that responses like that make me want to continue to just lurk here vs post
