Need 300+ seeds pricing/schedules , bulk seeds. Got cleaned out recently; one guy big order of both. I've managed to find a workable bulk deal on tamarillo, but price is right might get more from you. Pepino the big one right now, and have scoured around thoroughly. $11 per 100 best I can find, but they cart is screwed up or something at the moment. For pepino 300 will get me on trackagain at least, but could really use more than that so pricing on 500,1000 seeds ought to prove wirthwhile.

Willing to pay cash, or overpay via trades from my quite wide selection of seeds/roots/plants/chems (of a mostly useful nature).

27
I dont see any Fig cuttings  :P

Prices would be very helpful, also which seeds you can supply bulk pricing on.

Most of that lists I havent had here until past 6 months. Only have real experience with Satsumaimo, Boniato (intense plant), mirasaki, beauregard, hatki... think thats all I had until recent. I've seen them all swell. Even in the trays they do they burst the cells if I dont constantly reboot them. Seen satsuma go fine in jumbo 24" pot with barely half way decent soil. Hatki well adjusted for shit FL sand 'soil' (pretty sure its Tampa's native strain). Boniato went nuts this year along driveway edge (the 3' between driveway the the row of 24" pots parallel with it). OH, during the early year I kept sweeping leaf fall and soil debris over the strip and it mounded a good 10", but just beneath was was FL 'soil'.

It's a sub/tropical plant that loves heat; always expected if it grows it will swell.

29
I hope this isn't too broad, but which of the SP varieties have you seen do WELL in South Florida?  I love sweet potatoes!!

I live in Central FL...

But you can bet that Boniato the Caribbean tropical sweet potato will run wild there.

I don't really care about variety names. I mainly want small tubers from any red skin orange flesh. I can send 5 cutting of molokai and 1 rooted cutting of Okinawan. Wpuld prefer the tade by the end of this month. Getting chilly here.

Now that I think of it, last year I grabbed a couple-few random sorts from a Asian grocery. I actually needed satsumaimo and bought one thinking it was it (should have white flesh), but I think it had orange flesh i discovered later. Should still be out there, but a good example I try to avoid grabbing odd stuff if no proper name as I try to maintain a policy of not putting who-knows-what material into my site. So that one and its companions (all misnamed as "Japanese") have been more a burden until if I figure out what they are. Most the only room I have to grow over here is dedicated to the site wide propagation system wrapped around the website etc.

That one should have some tubers. But these other new ones from late this spring they MIGHT, but I'm not counting on it. I had so many of them and a bunch of other stuff going on all at once while summer was closing in. So the boxes of slips got set to trays and stashed in the shade to best survive the scorching summer (this year was unusually DRY too).

No, not yet. I have begun some initial seed work this year, but dont intend to truly take on that tribe until next year. Same with Passiflora's and a couple other clans I'm sure. Been making decent strides into the latter this year, it always starts with locking down seed+seedling flow etc then moves onto the cultivar work...

Ert wait I did actually collect a lot of fresh Climbing fig (Ficus pumila) cuttings about an hour ago at a friends :D but I suspect you are way beyond that league...

32
Here's some other new ones I have from Sand Hill:
Amish White Bunch
Baker
Bradshaw
Bush Porto Rico
Carolina Bunch
Cordness Red
Hannah
Hayman
Julian
Liberty
Navito
Porto Rico Runner
Texas Red

There's other around here from that order as well. Also have another new lot of 5 but but aren't sure whether or not they're all 'true' ornamental; that's what the vendor deals in but no info of food value was there.

33
I can supply Mamey seeds ($5 each) most of the year. Pulled right from the fruit just before packing (into moist media (usually cocopeat). I also ship the fruits whole (w/ seed obviously), but in the winter have to import the fruits from SA where they're often frozen (typically ruining the seeds). A lot of the time the seeds are bursting open upon opening the fruit. They're very large sometimes huge, always heavy as far as seeds go.

34
I have molokai purple cuttings, liberty cuttings (haven't harvested it), unknown purple (probably from those "Japanese Yams" in ethic markets), okinawan purple in a 2 months, orange barberman, and razorback (Sandhill sent me this in assortment but don't list it in their catalog :o) .

I also have Liberty, Barberman & Razorback. I actually have another list to add in. I did a last ditch random special deal with SH, I ordered one of each of their combos at the end of season closeout. I have to go thru and make sure they all survived then update the main list here.

Honestly I've been so blown away by the op here all year I havent hardly had time to go thru and learn much about any of these new ones in this year (most of them). But I know there are definitely orange types in the mix.

Def like to get some of that Molokai you have as well..

35
I have Okinawan & G. bicolor ready, but wont have Longevity ready for a bit longer. [also have Chaya (broadleaf), R&G Malabar, Moringa o., others]
Lemme know what stuff you have.

I have 50+ types of sweet potatoes: many heirlooms, all different colors including some ornamental types. Well stocked with Japanese purple skin white flesh (Murasaki), Korean Purple skin/flesh, Caribbean purple skin white flesh. Also have many other fancy/tropical rootcrop plant types, some fruit stuff and more if thats what it takes.

Korean Purple:

I can match tubers for tubers, but they must be from your garden not from the store (not Okinawan). I'll also match tubers for your strips of vines, or whatever. If sending vines its best they're packed in moistened cocopeat, or first soaked for a couple days in water  (leaves sticking out) in a simple bucket or whatever. If you're interested in swapping per volume (say matching sized Priority Mail boxes) I'd be willing to put more than one type of thing in the space.

Motivated & flexible. Also interested in making my list longer of course :)

Summer got really intense for me to hold the live op semi-operational. Brutal dry ordeal. Plants in my newish containment array tended t either get smoked, or grow rabidly beyond the typical 10" heights I prefer for shipping. Argh.

Anyways I can finally turn on my trading sub-routines again. I'll have to update the gene list up top later, did get some good trades/deals here before the scorch set in, several probably not in the list. But for stuff I only have a little so far I'd probably still want to trade to get more.

My offers updates are Bloody Mary is all moving fine again no problems in offering that. Also have overstocks on American Beauty after a few trades/acquisitions over past year so that is now officially part of my DF for offer stocks.

Likewise I still looking to trade for 'as much' Black Pepper, Long Pepper etc as might be able to get. Willing to match rooted live plants from my array, or like described just above with say rare sweet potato types or edible ginger family, dragon fruit, tropical leaf veggies, etc. I've a rooted P.nigrum on the way now, but looking to get this species all stoked pumping out germplasms rabid here like I have the Betel Pepper & family.

So for 3 node cut segments (of any edible piper's I dont have) I'll match likewise with the sorts of equivalents I can offer, as many types as you want, for bulk of the species piper(s) you can offer.

I have vanilla vines and would trade for unusual sweet potato slips or edible gingers.
Erica

Got in tons of news flowing DNA's this summer, especially in the heirloom SP & edible ginger dept.'s. Over 50 SP types total now, many of which I'll soon be able to start snagging vines from. Have something like 20 new choice ginger/turmeric types, but aside from kampheria galanga most of that lot that I have prepped inventory are already in the site.

How much spare vanilla do you have? I found some some sweet closeout deals on green, green/yellow & green/white this week to polish off the tidbits I got in during early summer. Should be able to get some solid specimens for each into the site no problem come early next year. BUT if you have a bunch to spare it'd be nice to get some live materials up in stock now, SO if you have a bunch (or a little) I'm still open to trades, pretty much for 'as much' as you might have potentially... We can match 3 node units for the vines, and then I can polish off scraping thru my ginger roots list (3 white turm types, other things too). I could work on the gingers now, but it'll be a good couple weeks probably until I can more properly snag from the new SP's assuming you wanna big trade, as I'll send as many types as you want to match 3-node units. Let me know!

I have a bunch. And got more pea eggplant in now.

43
After a brutal scorchingly dry summer at this spot, and then several instenseweeks of... I'm finally about done with my total live plant op system reboot+expand.

Ready to get trading and everything again...

44
Then who's going to compete with the actual NWO?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Glueberry / Gunda (Cordia sp?) ID Help?
« on: August 05, 2014, 12:53:37 AM »
I think I found a huge Gunda tree, but I've only ever seen the fruits in their unripe nonglue/veggie stage so hope you guys can help me realize if its Cordia dichotoma, or some other species?

I have access to some massive wild stands of 'Wild" Red Pineapple. Can anyone offer any experience of its fruit value, etc?

Are these suckers 'ripe'?

Interesting how so many offsets are bursting out of them fruits. Some of them even had them erupting out of the bottoms etc odd spots besides the tops.

There was some work published that said if the pollen is dried first it can keep in the refrigerator for a fairly long time, even longer if it is frozen.  I'll look up the reference at work tomorrow.

Richard

That would be some quite valuable datas....

In Paul Thomson's book, he refers to 3-S as "Delight".  If Pine Island had named it, it would have been more of a psychedelic rock name.   ;D

Cool. I have pink "Delight".

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Black Goji (Lycium ruthenicum Murr.)
« on: July 20, 2014, 05:26:14 AM »
I've gotten the 2nd sample in. A tad more than virtually the same stock. High variability between pod seed counts. Most pods tiny. Nowhere near the size or uniformity between seed counts/weight/stickiness of the typical 'red' goji. Total lack of uniformity in these metrics from 'black' pod to pod. Gram for gram vs. reds there is surely a lot more dessicated material. Some pods totally dry and nearly all seed; other pods no seeds and even bigger and really sticky. Then variations in between. Out of over 33 pods (not counting those odd looking ones without stems), 7 had no seeds while most had more than 10. Total range being 0-24 (that appeared viable at least).

From these sample, 'black' is apparently still quite wild in terms of the expected results of human cultivation. I suspect there will be a lot of variation in sprout times from seed to seed typical of wild plants / weeds. Assuming there's going to be science backing it up as a 'super food' even beyond the typical red, this species might just be wide open via cultivative selection & breeding to be a big big thing.... but damn if these aren't about the smallest fruits I've ever seen (like smaller than Solanum Wonderberry possibly).
