This is very strange, I don"t recall so many days of constant rain in the last 15 years. No chance to dry out or to spray.

They are outside in the open. Not much I can do. They are in the Redlands agricultural area so there are a lot of bad spores waiting to hatch.

Received plants today from Rareseeds.com. Can anyone provide the seed source for these DF variety since they were propagated from seeds, not from cuttings? Thank you.

By the way those look like tissue culture

Since this 24 hour a day, 7 day rain spell started in So. Florida all my American Beauty Dragon Fruit I had in the ground got infected and I had to pull them out. I had to do some clean up on others but the American Beauty is the worst, the 3 I had in the ground are gone.

Yes confirmed it is tissue culture. But I wonder why they would pick such an unknown cultivar I cant find anyone growing it with success.

Leo so far I have not heard of anyone with good results with this DF.  I have a couple of branches in a pot but I'm reluctant to use my last spot on it.

I don't know anyone is growing this DF. I have been unable to taste it.  I like to grow a while one but I don't care for the White Jaina. I wonder if anyone in the forum is growing it and can tell me how accurate is the Pine Island viewer on this.

David Bowie is a slender white variety that has a sweet and tangy flavor that is somewhat lemony. The fruit are medium to large weighing up to a pound. This variety is best eaten fresh, but it would be good for juicing or garnishing as well. It is variety is self pollinating.

In addition it gives it 5 starts for flavor and home planting, as compare to 2 stars for flavor on the Jaina.

Agree. Those pots underground can accumulate a lot of water and when summer rainy season comes in Florida you can have problems. Still time to get them above ground. I have tried different ways but all new plantings I'm doing with pots above ground on pavers with a dry container mix.  This is a very challenging crop in Florida because our high humidity and rain.

The taste of Bacon in So. Florida is not worth growing. In my opinion

Hope that tree is on W. Indies rootstock like Waldin.   However most of the avocado tree roots are shallow and it looks like you're a good 3' above the water line.  Where's the water table?  One way to find out is with a post hole digger.

Do you have a water analysis for the water source you're using?

It's my understanding that Hass is not a good match for Florida.

My understanding is the FL Hass uses a different root stock, that's how it was explained to me.  Good question on the water table...I'm not sure  I'm guessing it's a ways down there because when my royal palms were planted down by the seawall they dug deep holes and didn't hit water.  The tree is set back a ways from the seawall so it's at a higher elevation than the palms.
Makes no sense. Root stocks are selected for the location of the tree not for cultivar. If you get clarification for this let me know always open to learn.

Can you also use toilet bowl wax or Henry 102 (for roof leak repairs) to fill the holes and cracks?

There are a lot of different Henry products. This is the description of 102:

Is this the product?

Tried it on Avocados. If it works it would solve a lot of issues.  Still looking for a clay that would do the job.
Instead of rope I used plastic ties that I can tighten with a tool I have

Instead of a clay, why not try soft paraffin wax?

Just curious about the clay.
I make my own rosin with bees wax and cinnamon  paste to fill the large holes. Then I make a painttable solution with  water and Treekote and paint the area twice.
Will see......

Also the wind

Not really eliminate the tremendous job or cleaning the filters in the emitters. Get a sand filter after the pump so all your water is filtered and then you labor will be minimized.  Just back flush the filter once in a while.

So having a B flower avocado will make A flower avocados set more fruit?
To a homeowners may not be noticeable but in a commercial operation you can clearly see the difference when you match the right pollinator. Most avocados are self pollinating but you can increase production and more important early fruit set with the right pollinator.
I have been working with pollinator now for a long time and when you match the right combination your production and early set increases. Taking a fruit to market a week or two before most other growers can mean a lot of $$$$$.

I think the USDA in Chapman Field would. I got the bud wood from them. Not sure if they ship.

I found this tree in the Chapman Field USDA collection. I was looking for a B flower that would open around November-December in So. Florida.  This does it with the added bonus that this tree starts flowering in November and does not stop until the summer. Keeps getting waves of flowers during those 7-8 months and holds fruit different sizes.
As you can see in the picture taken today it has a large fruit and also flowers at the same time. This will pollinate all A flower trees during the flowering season in So. Florida.
Is 100 % Mexican so should be cold hardy. The fruit is small, big seed, turns black in the tree. Taste reminds me of Mexicola  which I don't like, specially because the many other choices we have.
But if you have a lot of A flower trees that flower at different times and have the room, this is it.
