Here’s some updates on how the tree looks. Only lots of ndm fruits so far. Lost a few varieties due to over fruiting and lack of care.

2018 updates, not much happening yet. Both grafts are still looking very healthy. The longan tree is active now, so should see some action soon. Sorry, don’t exactly what cultivar the longan rootstock is. But, guessing a kohala.

I have successfully fruited Huang Lai lychees from my longan tree. My proudest achievement in the gardening world. Fruit was so so so good. Flesh was juicy soft and melting sweet with very good aroma.  Also, majority of the seeds were tiny. No rag and tanium after taste like some other lychees.

Yes, bagging to create greenhouse effect. Forgot to say, poke couple holes on top of the bag. Keep in the shade, very important.

If possible. Bagging it and keeping it in the shade really helps. Do not over water. Keep misting branches as much as possible. No fertilization until recovered. I just had a lychee bounce back from shipping shock. It lost all it's leaves and was just a complete stick. Currently still in ICU.

I'm pretty sure this is the same variety of mango my friends friend is growing. This tree is extremely productive year after year and is disease resistant. This variety may actually be a good rootstock for us here in SoCal. Here are some pictures that my friend sent me a long time ago. I posted a thread asking about what the variety could be a while back but I can't find the thread.

The size and shape of these mangos are about identical to the ones I posted.
Simon

What is the name of those? That is a nice looking mango. Camouflage from the parrots would help too.

These mangos are best eaten sour green.  Can be eaten ripe too, but just not as good that way. It's a seedling tree from a buddy of mine name Randy. Started calling it Randy's green. Very productive and disease resistance. I grafted this for my aunt. All she does is just water. Easy to grow for beginners.

Simon, I'm almost 100% sure it's not the same variety as the commercial sweet green mangos.

Heard this variety does well on longan rootstock. Don't want to miss out on the perfect time for grafting  lychees.  I'm looking for 3 scions to experiment on my longan tree. Will buy or trade with mango scions. Send me PM if you can help me out. THANKS!

Just sharing pictures of a grafted  2in1 lemon zest and peach cobbler on a Manila rootstock. This tree was planted sometime last year at my friend's house. Both variety bloomed this year. Peach cobbler's bloom was removed early. Luckily it didn't re-bloom. Got it to a good start with a nice and low branching. It's gonna be a badass tree if my friend takes good care of it.

Grafted a double rootstock peach cobbler for a friend. Rootstocks were from super market fruits, most likely kents or Tommy Atkins. It was planted somtime last year. Full of flowers now, waiting  for right time to remove.

@Simon, I rarely do any foliar feeding on any of my trees. I do intend to start spraying micro nutrients this year.

@Cgameprogrammer. Majority of all my trees are mail order from Florida. Only trees I have grafted myself is an Alphonso, NDM, and one of the Mahachanoks. Good luck with your trees.

Wow, that looks really bad, I've never seen it so black before. It looked like it was doing so well. Hopefully the single rootstock can keep it alive.

Simon

I applied black tree pruning sealer on the rotting area to protect from insects.

Hi Simon, my LZ  this year will be in it's third year in the ground. First year, it gave me about 6 full size fruits. Second year, I only kept one fruit cause I wanted it to grow more instead. The whole canopy is tied up to give it an upright look. If let loose, it gets pretty droopy. I love the amazing taste of LZ. Seems to perform very well here for me so far.

Update on my Florida grafted LZ. Got some fruit set.

Pictures updates taken today on combo plantings. All are growing well, especially peach cobbler. Only little Pickering is falling behind.  Some minor die back here and there. Mahachanok almost ready to eat.

Update on double rootstock Alphonso. It's in full bloom, but little fruit set. One side of the rootstock is rotting.

Lychee on Longan graft update. Heung Lai is flowering and Pot Po Hueng still looks the same.

Both grafts are about a year old now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some fruits .

TnTrobbie, all the fruits from these young trees this year tasted amazing! That's no BS. All the people that got to try them had the same response. Im taking full flavor mangos here.  The Carries were my favorite. Tasted same as last year, absolutely delicious! It's pretty incredible how such young trees can produce such awsome tastings fruits. I could only imagine how much more intense the  flavors will be as the trees matures.

Palmcity, all the trees were purchased as 7g trees. Except for the Pickering was tiny 3g. Im pretty lucky over here. No issues with any insects/pest at all. From time to time, I do notice those sap sucking bugs. The trees are healthy, so not too much of a concern. As for the brown colored wood chips, nothing special about it. It's just to prevent weed from growing.
