So far , all my Florida mango trees are doing great in the ground. No adverse effects here. The two varieties that's been in the ground the longest is VP and Coconut Cream. I have them planted together in one hole. Last year both trees gave me about 15 fruits each(big fruits). This year Coconut Cream has about 12 fruits holding on. VP will skip fruiting this year because it's getting grafted on.

Coconut Cream on the left, VP on the right

Lemon Zest also performing very well. This is it's second year in the ground. I let only one fruit hold this year because i want the tree to focus on most it's energy in growth.

Hey Max, do you have an update of your tree? I was wondering how your tree produces from year to year. With so many different varieties on one tree, I'm wondering about the bearing habit. Are some varieties alternate bearing or do you typically get fruit from the majority of varieties from year to year? Have you had any varieties die back? Thanks Max!

Simon

The mine scaffold trunks  is slowly dying from insects/diseases. Despite the terrible condition its in, it's still fruiting a decent crop. Majority of the tree fruiting this year is the green mangos. Never skip fruiting since grafted. Also fruiting this year are Okrung, PSM, Glenn, Julie, Kesar, Bailey marvel, Lemon Zest, NDM, Lancetilla, Mallika, Carrie and Cowasjee Patel X Pirie. Kiett was fruiting too, but all of a sudden the entire graft died. Cushman starting to have die back too. Both were grafted on the more severely damage part of the tree. No fruit on Alphonso, ice cream(purposely remove) Edward, Amrapili(purposely removed), Duncan, Valencia Pride, Ah Ping, ST MAUI.  All grafts are very short, meaning haven't get to grow much due to fruiting. Only graft that realy took off was Okrung and PPK(some idiot chopped off entire graft).

Sorry, I'm having trouble uploading photos. If I can figure out how, will post pics later.

Murahilin

Does that mean the pineapple pleasure scion I got from you sometime ago is a sweet tart? The leaves looks very similar to my sweet tart. Only difference I can tell is that PP graft  has lighter green leaves. Can anyone else confirm if my graft is indeed a PP?

Sapote, thanks for comment and tip.

Simon, it was in a pot for about a year before I transplanted in the ground. Roots filled up the 2g pot very nicely. No signs of rootbound. So far as of today, both rootstocks and scion is growing pretty proportion to each other. See photos attached.

Johnny Eat Fruit, welcome to the mango world! Your ugly betty's very beautiful! :-)

This post is to keep track on progress of this tree that I started from scratch. Currently it's pushing new growth. I removed the flowers about a month ago. Usually, one would wait till fruit are about pea size to remove the flowers. I did not want to waste the time and energy of the tree so I cut it off when the flowers stop growing in size. To prevent it from blooming again, I watered it two to three times a week with diluted fish emulsion. Also, the night time temps was on my side, it didn't dip below in the 50's

Update a couple of photos on double rootstocks Alphonso. I recently grafted a keasar scion onto it. Hopefully I can have the king and queen together on one tree.

My one and only runt fruit was picked green and ripened on the counter for a week. Taste was awesome! To me, the taste is right up there with the  Alphonso mango. Sorry, didn't take pictures of the cut fruit. Remembered it had deep orange color flesh.

Hakip was living in a 7g pot. Now it's planted at my uncle's house this spring. No fruit this year. My small sweetheart was also planted early spring of this year.Had 2 fruits for me to try. Hopefully in a few more years I can do a side by side test for a more definitive comparison.
Here's the sweetheart tree

Congratulations! How's the flavor like? From the one fruit that I got to taste off my potted hakip tree, I detected some would say that medicinal flavor. Did yours have that same flavor? I got to try two sweethearts off my little tree this year and it did not have that medicinal taste. So from my limited taste samples, I don't think their the same.  Although they do look very similar.

Pictures of sweethearts this year.

My second coconut cream.  this one looks more ripe than my first one though it has two spots where it had split.  Hopefully it wont affect the taste.  Will need to let it soften before it try it.

Hey Robert,
We have the same cellphone.  ;D

Thanks for reporting back on the fruit Xshen. So it turns out on the first fruit that i tried was picked too early.  It wasn't my over watering that cause the bland flavor. I've been feeding this tree monthly ever since it started blooming with eb stone's 0 10 10 bloombooster. Plus, a couple of months ago, i started giving it 0 0 50 straight potassium. So, the fruit should be really sweet.

Rilou, I was lucky that i started out with a taller tree. Otherwise, all my branches will be on the ground as well.

ScottR, the VP should have no problems with growth. The previous year it had ~16 large mangos and i still had to prune that monster back, and it's still fruiting for me this year. It's currently holding almost the same amount of fruit as last year. As for the coconut cream, I'm planning to put it on a steroid program to get it back to full recovery.

Nice work Xshen! Seems too easy to be true. I'm waiting on some scions to try this on emperor. Hopefully, it works as well.
