ScottR, it's not a cocktail tree yet. It's two trees planted close to each other.VP is know to be a monstrous tree, all the reason why I was planning to turn it into a cocktail tree. But it's holding fruits again this year and I think that's the reason why it rejected every scion I put on it.

Bsbullie, thanks for the advice. I know my trees are at a young age, but its the only way I can give my family a little taste  of what to come. I'm been bragging too much about these top tier mangos to my friends and family and got nothing to show for it. After this year's harvest, im gonna focus on growth. Still got some time to size up a little before the cold weather gets here. As for the paper bags, it makes it harder to tell when the fruits is ready to pick. The fruits are too dang attractive.

Simon
My tree is like 6feet tall and and about 3 to 4 feet wide. This is the second year in the ground and first time producing. It's got close to 20 good sized fruits on it.
My largest fruit

I thought chip and patch bud was the same. I don't know the difference.  Anyways, I just cut out the bud in  rectangular shape and made a matching cut on the rootstock and wrapped it up together.

I just tasted my first coconut cream off my tree tonight and it was very disappointing. Lack of sweetness and flavor. Tasted no coconut flavor either. Probably due to over watering and not enough heat. Or tree is probably still too young. Now that most of the fuits has sized up, ima start cutting back the watering. Im pretty sure the rest on my tree will improve, especially with the heat coming soon.

Sorry, I didn't take any pic  with the fruit cut opened. It wasn't worth it to.

Also, might have been picked too early. Only the bottom half was yellow when it was picked.

Hey Simon,
I don't know for sure what variety longan i have. If i had to guess, probably a kohala. For this lychee scion, i used a piece that was still greenish to slightly woody with buds that hasn't pushed. I think as long as the rootstock is active and the scion is mature enough, the percentage of getting take is very high. Or could be just pure luck on first try as well.

Thanks Xshen! Hope to see some of your sweetheart grafts exploding with growth!

Behl, thanks again for sharing this with us not giving up. Now just hoping for the long term compatibility.

Anybody did Chip budding in Mango seedlings?

Graft was done on 3/6/15. Its completely healed in. But, the bud still hasn't pushed. It's probably because the the bud I used was not mature enough. I've tried snapping(not completely) the rootstock above the graft to stimulate the bud. Waited over a month and still nothing. Today I just completely cut off the top.

Please keep updating.

UPDATE, the bud has finally started to push. It'll be my first success with budding. Hooray! :-)

Congrats on your bumper crop Xshen!  Those are some nice looking African Pride's! This year my uncle's tree is suffering in production due to water restrictions. No annonas for me this year:'(Oh how I miss those fruits.

JF, that Kesar sure looks delicious! To me, the flavor of Alphonso and Kesar taste the same. Have you tasted Amrapili before? Hope it tastes just as good. Im still waiting for the one and only fruit at my aunt's house to ripen. So far the fruit is still kinda small.

If lychee longan graft is so easy then what about having cocktail tree with both fruits on one tree?

Exactly what I was thinking. Today I had a friend help me grafted sweetheart, Mauritius, and Brewster lychee onto my longan tree. Will update once I get some progress.

So far, I've tasted Mauritius, kwai mai pink, Brewster, and sweetheart(not homegrown). Sweetheart is my favorite. If only sweetheart has that rose scent fragrance, it'll be so perfect. Nice picture as always. Thanks for posting.
