Awesome, have you heard of pouteria domingensis/Totuma? Or    Pouteria dictyoneura subsp. fuertesii /caracol? I am trying to find out a bit about them especially totuma, there seems to be conflicting reports on its status. I found a few articles but they are not much help
One garden says its growing totuma but I can't get a reply.

Fruits arent spectacular sadly. Am in contact with qld dpi apparently they collected specimens of musa ingens to keep. They may have tc stock doubt they sell it though . In the meantime, if a tall banana is what you want musa "saba" will get 30ft plus in ideal conditions with an edible fruit with african rhino horn just under. or if ornamental is your thing musa itinerans var gigantea will hit 40ft.

None of my Duguetia ever germinate. Like my musa 😂😂. I considered eating them to see if it helped 😃.

Gabe15 as hes known on bananas.org has been around a while, i found posts of his on gardenweb from the early nineties when he was 15yrs old. Ordering tc plants from itc. He probably knows more about bananas than almost anyone else. Hes done heaps of expeditions to different counties searching for and cataloguing bananas. He mentioned trying these on a post somewhere.

Musa seeds make annona seeds look easy. The one person i know of who have obtained these (gabe15)  had little luck, apparently they need a mycorhizal association fungus to go. Tissue culture is more successful but still needs the right climate.

Do you think it would come true from seed?

120
Hi Vernmented, theres alot of variation within the scheidiana sp, and grafting to avo has given variable results.  Someone mentioned it earlier, but i was also trying to find g577c aka martin grande. Part of usa collection, once touted as a popular rootstock and probable hybrid between avocado and chucte. People may still have it listed as Martin Grande and I  think it woud be a good shot for pure scheidiana.
