Sorry should have said that one is on order from a nursery in qld who has a specimen. Later this year i should recieve one. The rest on the list i have plus a few lesser known varieties. Most are seedlings. Some are small plants. Still searching for hypoglauca, torta var gallifructa and a few others. Australis and eerwah may be listed under planchonella .

Did anyone ever try this? I have 3 korlan seedlings and a few more seeds Im going to sow and I wondered if anyone did try grafting rambutan to it.

They are. I have a couple of fingerlimes, a garrawayi, an inodora and an australis. I did have a glaucus but they are finicky and  a little  ugly. I also found a supply of gracilis but apparently they are worse to keep alive.

Cool thanks Mike. The leaves are smaller than my cedar bay and thinner but similar shape and the fruit seems a lot smaller and less round. It may be a smaller form I guess do you know if the name is definite?

I thought this may interest some forum members. Above is some pictures of my Dimocarpus Australianus. The first, second, seventh and eigth pic are of my original seedling purchased in 2008. When I bought it, it was about 20cm tall and as you can see its about 1.75m tall now after 6 odd years and yet to flower. Pic nine shows an example of the one of the largest leaves on it compared to my kohala seedling. The Pics three, four, five, six and ten show dimocarpus australianus grafted to a dimocarpus longan rootstock. The grafts were done by a very talented friend back in mid January. Pic ten was taken today, you can see a second one in the background. They actually appear to be more vigorous on the longan rootstock. If they take I intend to do more next year as I am the only person in Perth with one and want to ensure it isnt lost.

I came into a few of these not long ago and was wondering how do you germinate these. I have left a couple as is and opened a few planting the kernel. not sure which will give the best results.

Is anyone growing this?

There was a guy doing this with apples. He was grafting a seedling rootstock with a dwarfing interstock and his chosen variety on top. He was doing both grafts at once rather than one in the first year then the other the following. He reported good success. Not sure it would be the same with evergreens.
