Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Macadamia Tetraphylla, or a hybrid?

it should be fine if you grow it in pot for the next 4-5 years, you can bring it inside, it grows quite fast but won't barely exceed your height by that time. You will also have to prune it so it grows new branches and not become to high. The more branches you got the more flowers you'll have. I ordered a new one but they don't deliver in winter, so I have to wait. My other one was like your picture, but died from cold.

Thanks, very useful. I have a small "air rooted" Red rick, but it's really slow growing. :-\

This may be a Macadamia integrifolia X Macadamia tetraphylla (Variety Beaumont), they sell those here in Japan and they also have 2 leaves per whorl just like yours. The flowers are pink and it's a very good hybrid, fast growing it can bear in about 4 years.

I don't know if it's the same, but I'm growing a white flesh Pineapple that looks a lot like your description, the fruit have a peach fragrance so they called it "Peach pine". But mine is said to have been created in Okinawa. There are thorns on the leaves because I think it's been developed from snack pines.
I got 5 of them growing in pot and also Giant snack pines and honey pine.

Hi everyone,
I'm a graphic designer living in Japan.
I started growing tropical fruits about 20 years ago, by planting the seeds of every exotic fruits I could get my hands on, just wanted to see how the tree looks like and it soon became one of my main hobbies, the other are cinema and travel.
English is not my native language, but I'll try my best.
