Man o man, if I was driving distance from Florida ....
Awesome tree! I am sure it will go to a worthy owner!

177
That is a good looking plate!

I agree, foliage will help.

But the way my plants are behaving: CC tends to be a very green leaf (bright green/yellow when young) and somewhat wide for a mango leaf. Whereas Mahachanok tends to be a thinner leaf with a distinct red hue. It also tends to have bright green veins when a young leaf.

However, mine have not fruited yet, so I might not have the right IDs on my plants :)

Definitely following!

Hey Alex, what is the status on shipping mangoes to AZ? Is it still not allowed? Thanks!

That is a nice looking yard!

I can vouch on the heat tolerance. I have one growing in a pot, and it hit 116f+ here last week and it didn't mind it at all.

Hey raimeiken! Cool!!
Where did you get the plant from? Or is it a seedling? (in that case, where did you get the seeds from), thanks!

Looks great!! How much did it grow in 2 years? Enjoy them...
Not much in terms of height, probably two feet at the most but it grew much wider.

Could you post a recent pic, I would love to see it!

The easiest way is to start your own tree via rooting from a dormant cutting. I can send you a couple of cuttings from my tree this winter. Send me a PM in Dec/Jan.

There is also a guy named figgysid on the figs4fun forum. He is in Hawaii (not sure which island). If you ask him, I am sure he will have a bunch of live trees (which will give you a head start by 1-2 years) and might even have a Violette de Bordeaux.

My VdB is 4-5 yrs old and is about 5 ft tall. Tons of branching and the trunk is >1" diameter. It is a natural dwarf. And for its size it is *hugely* productive. Many dozens of main crop figs, and I get 2-3 main crops each year. And as a bonus, I finally got breba crops this spring.

Best tasting and most productive fig tree I have.

Thanks George!

Hello George, do you sell seeds of the jackfruit? if so (1) what are the fastest growing varieties (2) when will you have some (3) how much do you ask for them??    Regards.     Patrick

Same question from me!

That looks and sounds great!

West Indian seeds are large (vigorous) and they handle salt much better than Guat or Mex, which is a problem around here. They don't handle cold, but since I am using them for rootstocks, that is not as much of a concern.

That yellowing and how its kind of splotchy looks like FMV (fig mosaic virus). All my trees have it and display it with differing levels of severity. Bottom line is that I have found it to not be a big deal. The trees drop leaves during the season when they get too yellow. But they put out new leaves so fast that the trees don't seem to suffer for it.

I have already experienced a couple of dropped leaves so far this year, but the trees all look great, are putting out new leaves and the main crop is ripening!

My VdB produced breba figs for the first time this year. They were okay. They didn't have the intense flavor the main crop has because the brebas don't get enough heat to ripen like that. But it was still a nice surprise to have figs in May :)

197
Oh no!! In about 2-3 months that would have been perfect! :( (assuming yours ripen at the same time the CA ones do).

198
Thanks Mark! That is awesome about your avocados, that one looks great!

199
That would be awesome, thanks Sayyid!

We almost always have Hass. I once found some Sir Prize, but that was a rare find. In Aug/Sept I can find Reeds (my favorite) at my Whole Foods. They have big seeds.

But if you can save some seeds from the slimcados, I would really appreciate it! I think that would work well!
