M.dioica was never available in Kerala in the wild. Only M.sahyadrica is available. M.dioica is cultivated by a few people in Kerala. For that matter I doubt M.dioica is available in Kanara, but M.sahyadrica is. M.dioica is found in Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, etc.

No there are no signs of borers. For some one who is used to enjoying good avocadoes, even five avocadoes is a luxury he cannot afford to lose in a place where he cannot get any avocado. The fruits are so tasty, is why he wants to save the tree if possible.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Avocado tree disease

My cousin has an avocado tree which used to produce about 15 fruits about ten years ago. But, since the last six years, the fruits are becoming less and also smaller. This year there where only six fruits and all of them dropped before maturing.I am attaching photos of the canopy, branches and a broken branch, showing dead wood inside. Please can some one suggest what could be the reason. Thanks.

This is a  photo of seedlings grown from seeds bought as G. malaccensis from a seller on this forum. From above post, the seedlings must look like G. mangostana  seedlings. If anyone is growing G.malaccensis please comment. If possible please post a photo.

LP, if you like bitter gourd, you will love these even better. They are more crunchier than bitter gourd. If you would like I can send you seeds at the end of winter there. When it becomes warm the seeds will sprout and grow into vines and fruit in three months. I also have another species, M.sahyadrica, the photo of which I will post soon.

These are related to 'bitter gourd', but not bitter at all. I just made a stir fry, after slicing them and removing the seeds, mixing with a little oil, salt, turmeric powder and chilli powder. Excellent!!
