Jeff,
Broadleaf has a firmer flesh, and is as sweet as a red lady! I would say that overall they are a close tie! Broadleaf is prettier as a landscape item.

Hey Berto, is your tree still pumping out fruit? Any chance for seed?

Looks like they are thriving Oscar, how old? How long to germinate?

Congratulations, can't wait for a full tasting report. I hope she loves it!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: In praise of Loquat...again.
« on: March 22, 2017, 05:18:24 PM »
I have a loquat tree with delicious fruit in Santa Monica. Another tree inherited with the house. A friend in Culver City has a similar one that is a magnet for the local parakeet flock. They have a good orange taste with just the right amount of tart for me.
It seems strange that this "food" plant seems to survive in gardens because people don't recognize loquats as food. I've always wondered why food plants aren't given more attention for landscaping. Maybe in cities like Los Angeles they take up too many poisons/pollutants to be healthy.

The argument I see cities making regularly is that they draw in fruit rats. Seems like cities could control that well enough but that's the world we live in.

I'm going to plant, I'm just saying, I decided to stop selling seeds outside Brazil, the gain is little and the work is very much.

Sometimes it takes a while to send and people are charging you, so I stopped the sales.

I'm doing a lot of things right now, no time to sell seeds ....

I'm just spreading the species I can find.

I would love to be able to hunt wild fruit in the forests! I did stumble a patch of forest here with 3 different blueberry species but that hardly comparison to a new annona! Are you going to plant the seeds? Sell any?

A noble cause for sure. I wish you luck with germination too. What was the location like? Seed to pulp ratio? Where you out hunting fruit in particular or just going for a hike?

This is one I still haven't tried. I'd be interested giving it a try. Anyone have success in Fl? If so, when do they come in season?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Updated topics in Upper Left
« on: March 09, 2017, 11:15:54 AM »
I noticed the square with user name, updated topics, ect. is gone from the upper left. It was there yesterday and gone this morning. Anyone know what happened?

It happened to me too and thought it was removed.
It is actually collapsible. There is a green square with a white triangle at the top of the page on the middle, click on that and it will reappear.

Hey look at that, so weird. Thank you!

I just got mine as well. Any confirmation on germination? Pictures of your seedlings?

44
I dont have any bearing trees yet but I'm very much interested in attending!

45
Do you know where the drainfield is on your septic system? Would you happen to have a site plan? They are incredibly expensive to fix and are prone to root damage.

46
I wrote Wayne Clifton and he now has a limited number of Scions for sale $10 each and will have some small  trees  in a few months if anyone is intrested
[/quotey
I am! Does he ship or is it pickup in person only? Should I reach out to him directly?

47
I'd like to get one of these Dreams
Anyone have any contact info where I can buy one
I should have some available in 1gal on cherimoya rootstock in about a month. They're pushing new growth now, gotta give them some time to heal.

I'm also interested in one if there are any left. I cruise though FM often on my way to family in Cape Coral.

Ours is a Cinnamomum verum, its in a mostly unmodified florida sand. It grows like really vigorously for me.
