Tropical Fruit Discussion / Cinnamon trees in Athens

There are some of my Cinnamon trees in Athens. I brought them all bareroots from Switzerland. Most of them lost their leaves but are doing new yet.

Anaxel,

The Chaunsa and Sindri mangoes you already tasted are not imported from India, but from Pakistan. I agree with you, they are the best ones (with ratool and Langra). I like also Alphonso, it is a tasty variety. You did a mistake, the Alphonso manoges are not comming from Qatar, but from India, but they traveled with Qatar airways.

Here in Athens, the Pakistanese and Indian shops will start to import the mangoes in 1-2 weeks.

Personnally all south-east asian mangoes have a too strong taste of terebenthin, I don't like them.

In Greece, on the island of Chios (only  there) we grow this tree: Pistacia lentiscus var.chia which give one of the most rare resins, the mastiXa. Which is well known for its medicinal properties, but mostly as an aromatic gum used to perfume firstly MastiXa Xiou (a mix with resins and sugar), but also ice cream, shewing gum, liqueur.

Its trade is highly controled by authorities and it is totally prohibited to get and export from Chios island plants, scions, seeds,....

Haha, No MangoFang, it is no use to be Indian to appreciate their mango, as well I could be also Pakistanese. I tried lot of different varieties, but for my taste (totally personal) my prefered varieties are from Pakistan and India (especially north).

Do you grow in your zone Langra, Chaunsa, Ratool, Sindhri or it too wet climate for these varieties?

34
Yes Tingkun, but it is hemi parasitic, so can alive without other plants. In pot, it is important to fertilize with high level ofNitrogen

35
Anaxel, I saw you ordered on frutales, can you do this online?

quand tu veux commander chez frutales, tu peux le faire directement ou tu dois leur envoyer un mail? car je n'ai pas d'option: ajouter au panier!

merci à toi.

Good morning Carraig,

I am interested by your seeds, but the ebay links doesn't work.

Do you have a list for all incenses and rare woods you have for sell with respective price/quantity?

best regards, Jonas

38
Thank you a lot Nullzero, I asked them for Commiphora myrrha (not proposed) and B.sacra, unfortunnately they don't sell plants out of US and Commiphora are only available in this form.

Thank you Roy, I'm especially interested by these species, because they provide the best quality.

Thank you a lot Tingkun, it is really kind of you. Yes I have a greenhouse (25°C during winter) don't worry.

These are some of the last plants I would like absolutely to grow with some others (of course). I try to do a collection of spices-incense-rarewood trees (and have a high interest in mango too).

39
Nice job!

I'm looking for plants or fresh seeds of these trees:

-Commiphora myrrha (Myrrh)
-Boswellia sacra (Incense)
-Dipteryx odorata (Tonka nut)
-Diospyros ebenum (Ebony)
-Diospyros perrieri (Ebony)
-Santal sps (santal wood)
.Aquilaria crassna (Agarwood)

If someone knows where I can purchase them...
