Which are your top three cultivars regarding the taste?

Abiu is prone to fruit fly here, don't know if you have that problem there.
I don't think anyone mentioned chico sapote/sapodilla.  We really like it.
Peter

Its not a big problem, because they stick to the latex so that they can do damage. Same thing to canistel. Take a close look at this pictures, the damn fly even tries to get to the green fruit. See the small spots on the fruit

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Recent white zapote grafts
« on: January 01, 2017, 04:41:27 PM »
I few month ago I did several grafts. On vigorous trees the success rate was about 80%, on a weak tree the success was 0%.
The new cultivars I have grafted are: Walton, Nies and C. tetrameria #6. Has anyone tasted those cultivars?

8
A few month later the trees aborted most fruits, but two are still growing. fingers crossed  ::)

How is the taste of pulassan compared to rambutan in your opinion?

Thanks very much for the information JF.
It's a bit of a surprise to never see any forum members from Spain, though Portugal is well represented.

We got Felipe from Tenerife and there are other Spaniards from the tropical coast...... I which they would speak up. They are from the land of Fino de Jete, Campas and Pazicas to name a few top tier moyas.

I'm from Gran Canaria, not Tenerife!  >:(   ;D ;D

I'm currently not informed about whats going on in Spanish mainland. Apparently there is a chirimoya festival in October:
http://www.costatropical.net/costaTropical_Fiestas/Fiesta_de_la_Chirimoya.asp

La Mayora has over 150 chirimoya cultivars and I know they are working on the development of new cultivars. I have written emails to several people in the past, but I received not a single reply. Maybe you have more luck...

I had this season Edward for the the first time. It's a tasty mango, but I prefer Zill mangos like Coco Cream, LZ, etc.

The fruit is currently big as an apple, which is very big compared to the fruits of my other plant (fruit are like a golf ball and will be harvested in March-April).
Yes, the seeds came via Madeira ;)

I recently harvested my first fruit. Unfortunatelly it was not well ripened when I cut it. The fruit was soft on one side, hard on the other. The soft pulp was sweet and tasty, but I missed more aroma and complexity. I'm positive the next crop will be better ;)

Hi Jay,

any updates about the plants in Thailand? Wonder how limoncillo is doing over there...

23
How would you rate the taste of the fiberless soursop?

25
Oh man, I would love to visit India, specially during mango season... have not been there yet.
I could give you some advises about Thailand. Where do you want to go? What do you want to see? If you are in Thailand, I highly recommend you visiting the temples in nothern Cambodia, near Siam Reap. You can drive there from TH by bus. It's not the best place in terms of fruit, but it's amazing... ;)
