BTW, here are some mammea plants that a friend grafted:

102
Moh'd, the cempedak x jackfruit hybrid does fine over here, but cempedak does not survive for unknown reasons. Me and some friend have tried it several times, but all dies. Once you get the plants out of the greenhouse, they dry out :/ My last hope is trying to graft cempedak, using the hybrid as rootstock...

Excelente cosecha Don Pedro ;)
I will have to visit you one day...  ::)

I'm not growing M. americana, because I'm not a big fan of the fruit, but there are several big trees on the islands, which perform very good.

105
BTW, I'm also interested in ilama scions ;)

106
This is a reticulata on glabra:

With only 140mm rain per year, wet soil is not my problem..  ;D

A friend grafted this plant for me. He runs a nursery and is very happy with glabra as a rootstock. He thinks glabra is more tollerant regarding salt and high ph then other annonas. I also was suprised to see glabra perform that good over here. I suggest you grow a few seedling to give a try.

107
My guess is that glabra would be a better rootstock then squamosa...

Tremendo!! Amazing job! Now you biggest concern will be prunning the trees, so that they don't get too big...

Servus Markus,

I have had success with seeds from Fruitlovers and also from another source. Easy and fast growing plant. From my experience it does not like high ph, salinity and low temperature. My plants started flowering in the third year, but no fruit set so far.

Congratullations Sergio! That's great news  :)

I did order and receive my seeds from Oscar in June 2009. So far I did not detect any flower. This is a picture made on December 14 of one of my seedlings.

Sergio, can you post a picture of your plant? What kind fertilizer do you use?

Very nice! Do you have any idea, if this sp is maybe less tropical than rambutan and pulasan? Any info about water/humidity requirements?

123
Congratullations! Have you considered planting it in ground?

I wounder if a grafted achachairu also takes in the tropics so long to start producing...

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Help me to choose 5 mango trees
« on: April 11, 2015, 08:57:16 AM »
Mohd, I can't comment much, since I have no idea about most of the cultivars. This is what I can say:
- I would get these indian cultivars: Chaunsa, Kesar, Sindhri, Mallika.  I have tasted them from import and they are excellent IMO.
- Osteen (first) Keitt (second). BTW Heidi has a similar profile but is behind in eating quality. It's a late mango which  I would only grow if I had a lot of space.
