Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Anyone have Gomera mango seeds?
« on: September 25, 2015, 12:21:28 PM »
I currently have Gomera-1 seeds. I sell them for 2,5 EUR each.

Manga blanca is Gomera-4.

Depending on size of the 3 gal and location being grown, 4+ years to start to flower.  Growing in a pot will most likely lengthen the time.

This guy has been in ground for 2,5 years and still no flowers...

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Buy plants to italy

Someone know some seller which have many mangoes, avocados, litchi, longan, anyway tropical fruits and could arrange a shipment to my country?

The ones mentioned have several cultivas of the mentioned ssp.

Regarding mango cvs ask frutalestropicales.com, maybe they also have other cvs which are not on their web site. I doubt you will find CC in EU since it is patented.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: I Nominate Neelam (for Worst)
« on: September 20, 2015, 07:47:44 AM »
This week I tasted Neelam for the first time from two different trees in different locations. Three other persons and I where very pleased with this mango. It was very tasty with a hint of coconut flavour.

Maybe our dry climate and soil ist better suited for this mango? :)

Thanks for the correction Felipe; I did not know there’s a commercialized production in the Canary Islands. You do have a drier (maybe except for La Gomera) and warmer climate there - so are you able to grow them outdoors or is the production in greenhouses there too?

Our climate is drier, the temperatures are higher and we have more sun irradiation. Pineapples are grown outdoors. Some crops (bananas, vegetables, etc) are sometimes gown in greenhouses (depending on the location) to protect from heat, wind, avoid fluctuations and keep higher humidity levels.

Coffee is also grown commertially here, but on small scale (labour is expensive and tourism brings more cash). In gereal agriculture in neglected here, specially in the bigger islands  :-\

I would buy not the whole tree, but a few scions of it  ::)

Azores are the only ones in Europe with a commercial production of pineapple

That is not correct. Pineapples are also commercially grown in Canary Islands ;)

Cool pics, thanks for sharing :)

John came up with a method of packing his plants that would have foiled 99.9% of USPS's attempts of destroying a package.  He purchased some inexpensive plastic tubes...like a cheaper version of PVC.  Had them cut in 2 foot sections.  His plants were able to perfectly squeeze down into the tubes allowing him to keep them in the original soil and nursery container/bag.  This made for a very snug, very safe and as stress-free as possible trip home.  No crushed or folded in half box with this!  It was truly thinking outside the BOX!!   :o

Plastic tubes... thats a great idea!

Just curious...What is a function of that hanging bottle on your tree?

It's my Dad's fly trap. He puts some red wine with sugar. The bottles has a few small holes and it gets full of fruit lies...
