Hi

Good question about the date of the post.

Brazilian post offices have been terribly slow and confused since November, they are implementing new systems and working with a small staff of staff.

Even internal orders that took two useful, to be delivered are taking up to five days.

So the ideal is to follow the tracking and see how they are following the packages.

anybody else receive seeds yet?
When did you order?

Hello kar1ma3

Usually when you give the wrong address to the sender, mail is not usually received.

Evidence follows that their seeds were sent and returned to Brazil by incorrect mailing.

I live in a distant region with precarious internet access, my radio reception equipment was damaged by lightning on Christmas night, I stayed almost 30 days without internet, but I told you before about what to do with the seeds.

I am willing to resend you new species, please solve this via pm!

Attached are photos of your envelope, AWB, and labels confirming incorrect mailing

Alexandre

Ultra rare seeds that you will never receive??   :D
I have never received mine from him in the past  :'(
Lost over $100 and he stopped responding  8)

Hello Freinds.

Just updating the post about Eugenia Patrisii, I now have lots of fruits, and I made a delicious jelly with my Ubaias, the two varieties have now fruited.

Hello Friends.

Young seedlings, (Plinia Peruviana) as we are in summer in Brazil, high temperature and humidity germination is brutally fast!

Very beautiful leaves.

30
Hello Ondrej

Beautiful seedlings, I hope they grow well there in their orchard, Eugenia Sp, is an excellent fruit, very good flavor, better than Cereja do Rio Grande in my opinion.

About Spondia, I planted a seed from the lot I sent you and it germinated in early January.

Spondias take up to 1 year to germinate, you can speed up this germination by placing the seed in a zip lock bag with moist moss and storing it inside a closed box, they will germinate much more quickly.

I wish success to your plants, then let me know how the other buyers left with the seeds

Thanks.

Alexandre

Seeds from the group order:
Eugenias of Alexander's seeds are already growing.  :)
Spondias dulcis does not germinate yet.
Myrciarias I did not buy.

Hello oscar

Between 2.4 and 3 cm, I think if you cultivate the species, there may be an increase in the amount of pulp. The taste is very good, can be a good species for cultivation.

32
Yes Sytanta, the fruit is very beautiful and has great flavor, I will try to cultivate to verify if the qualities of the fruit improve.

Soon I must confirm the ID of another 2 or 3 types of wild Plinias !,

Work goes on!

33
Hello everyone.

Beginning the year with the presentation of a very rare wild plinia of Brazil. Plinia Peruviana, fruits collected at an altitude of 700 m, purple fruits, sides, with creases in the bark that remind me of the cambuca, caulifloros, lightly beige pulp, very sweet, containing one or two seeds inside, similar to regular jabuticabas.

I am dedicating myself to the collection of wild species of plinias and myrciarias, the intention is to preserve these species and verify the conditions of cultivation.

Alexandre.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Grafting persimmon question.
« on: January 04, 2018, 03:43:05 PM »
Hi

Yes, they can ship by Jadlog or another carrier, there are many nurseries that have these varieties and already grafted.

I only cultivate Rama Forte, the others I did not invest in seedlings.

Boa sorte!

I'll give it a try.  Thanks Alexandre for the lead in SP.  Do they do mail orders to send to Santa Catarina?

Hello,

I suggest you look for nurseries in São Paulo, they have many varieties of persimmon.

Look with Edilson Giacon from Viveiro Cipreste.

If nobody has tried this, I will give it a shot and see if it works.  Does anyone know where I can get scions of good cultivars of persimmons?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Is it Bakuri or not..
« on: December 06, 2017, 04:56:18 PM »
Hello

Just dig up the seed a little bit, if it is the true Bacuri it will be large, almost the size of a chicken egg.

These leaves do not look like true Bacuri leaves, they resemble leaves of some other garcinia.

Another factor is to remember how long it took for germination, Bacuri takes up to 3 years to germinate the seeds.

there are methods to germinate faster, but that's another story!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Deformed New Leaves on Young Jabuticaba
« on: November 07, 2017, 06:14:10 AM »
hi!

Probably excess phosphorus in the substrate, but do not worry, do not kill the plant, you can leave the seedling in the shade to acclimate better, leaving only a few hours of sun a day.

Yesterday I did fertilization with phosphorus in my jabuticabas and some may soon have leaves as well.

Another rarer cause here is mite attack, but it also does not cause much damage to the plant.

Good farming!

Eugenia Cereja, Here i have fruits now.

No

One tree fruits

Is pouteria torta need seperate male female for fruiting?

40

Yes, I would also like to know, it is a tree in critical danger of extinction, will make a port in the place where we collect, then it may be that in a few years it adds up!

Very nice trees Alexandre! Would love to know about other members' process on this "Melanopsidium nigrum Colla".

Hello

Updating information about this species last year I planted seeds and made some seedlings and at 18 months they already defined fruits, and really are male (white and grouped flowers) and female (yellow flowers).

I believe to be an ideal Rubiacea for pots and small spaces.

The seeds that I sent in August have already sprouted here on the farm, please update me on the germination, who bought my seeds Obviously.

Thank you

Here in Brazil my trees have begun to flower, they mature in April

quote author=azorean link=topic=25815.msg301345#msg301345 date=1509318702]
I am looking for seeds of abiu Pouteria caimito, variety Tikuna. I wonder what time of the yeat it fruits, maybe this is the season in Florida?

43
Leaves of Plinia Grandifolia, in average of 10 to 15 cm in length, their photos remind me some type of Plinia Coronata.
perhaps this name Jabuticatuba, refers to the fact that the fruit is large, but 3 cm in diameter, the P Grandiflora, the name tuba is given by the fact that the leaf is large the huge tree!

44
Usually for this name Olho de Boi, we associate coronata, Jabuticatuba, in general we refer to plinia grandifolia, Jaboticaba-tuba, and this species is very rare and endemic of the State of Rio de Janeiro and Espirito Santo, please ask the seller where he got the matrix tree.

45
Olho de Boi is a generic name, only here in mine  region we have many jabutucabas that we call Olho de Boi, this may be just one of the types that we give this name.

Good news, Helton says that the only species he knows that has this little spine is "olho de boi" or jaboticabatuba.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: feijoa
« on: October 20, 2017, 09:07:00 AM »
Hi,

It depends, I live in tropical climate here in Brazil and I harvest many kilos of feijoa in April, so I think it depends on the variety, we here have selected varieties of feijoa that are adapting well in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Vitoria and even in the semi arid northeast of Brazil are testing, they in the tropical climate, I think they require a little more water to do well.

Today my trees are full of flowers.

depends, but in seed planted media, it takes between 8 and 10 years, some cases up to five I've seen happen, but this family all plants take that time on average.

awesome, I'm interested then too!  how many years until fruiting?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Mamey Sapote oil extraction process
« on: October 19, 2017, 03:21:36 PM »
Thank you FFF,

It is a complex process, I will take this file that you send me to UFV (Federal University of Viçosa), which is near here to my city at 60 km, by the file the procedure is well explained, maybe I'll try to do something mean homemade, by the file, it seems to me that they use the whole fruit, perhaps for this reason the necessity to use Hexano, perhaps to remove oil only from the seeds is easier, I already did some experiments, and I managed to make the oil to float, a centrifuge to separate the water from the oil.

With the seeds, I dehydrated the seeds, made a flour, mixed with hot water, stirred and added Na (OH), so saponified the mixture and it floated.

With the pulp, I crushed the pulp and put it in an alumina form in the sun, and over time the oil ran down the bottom of the tray, but the bees did not let me work with that mamey paste for long!

It's a lot of applied chemistry, I think we better go back to our Mangoes, annonas, Mexican garcinia and jabuticabas, Lol

Thanks for the material and as you said you did not want to offend anyone.

2.3.
Extraction and purifi cation of mamey sapote
seed oil (MSSO)
The  oil  was  extracted  in  a  Soxhlet  apparatus
using  hexane.  The  extraction  was  performed  during
periods of  6 hours from dehydrated and milled seeds
(with  about  15%  humidity)  until  the  samples  were
completely exhausted. The solvent was removed from
the  resulting  micelle  in  a  rotary  laboratory  (Büchi
RE 111) at reduced pressure.
The lipid fraction was stored in a container pro-
tected from light under refrigerated conditions until
processing and/or analysis.
The  obtained  oil  was  purified  by  an  adaptation
of   the  Wesson  method  (Mehlenbacher,  1970).  In
this  procedure,  the  oil  was  dissolved  in  petroleum
ether  (1:5  mass/volume)  and  1  mL  of   a  14%  potas-
sium hydroxide solution was added to each gram of
oil, with vigorous agitation; subsequently, 50% ethyl
alcohol  was  added  at  1:2.5  (mass/volume)  based  on
the mass of  oil, with agitation and then resting, until
separation of  the phases. The ether layer containing
the neutral oil was processed to recover the purified
oil. It was then stored under refrigeration (−5 °C) and
protected from light until processing and/or analysis.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Mamey Sapote oil extraction process
« on: October 19, 2017, 01:44:58 PM »
Hi,

I did not mean or offend anyone, I just commented with Sytanta, who has fruit that the staff does not care much to talk about,

I think I did not say anything offensive or even that is not true, in fact I should not even have asked this in the forum, ton of information I think is a bit exaggerated, but there are some,
I did not say that the forum does not have mamey topics, only that there are few people who have interest, such as the fruit topics I mentioned.

I'm not here to fight for anything, if someone wants to talk about manga, mamey, jabuticaba, acerola, papaya, everyone is willing to talk about what they want and have the will., After all time and the Computer is yours, and you are free to talk about what you like.

After I delete the content of the post, it will be good that it does not fill anyone's patience.

I just threw this topic off as finding an income alternative for people, extracting quality oil, selling, and making money.

You know this forum has, and continues to cover Mamey sapote in depth.  There is tons of information about cultivation and cultivars.
Oil extraction for cosmetic purposes might not have been covered and is probably better sought out in another forum.  That doesn't mean that this forum doesn't cover the fruit!??!

Thanks Sytanta, I will continue the search for information about this process of oil extraction, I think I asked for help in the wrong forum, this one only lends itself to talk about manga, annona, jabuticaba and Luc Mangosteen, a pity as there are plants interesting out of these.

I think that here only receives a minimum of attention if it is to talk about these plants, nothing against.

Looks promising! Anyone can help please?
