Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Question about Mamey
« on: September 25, 2015, 04:47:55 PM »
Hello Cássio.

It is possible to propagate mamey by air air layering technique?

I want to make some new changes of mamey, for I have many trees in production and want to plant more, however I do not want to plant seeds, it takes seven years to start producing fruit.

I have the common sapoti, grafted, in pots and already with fruits.
Now, I´m tempted to buy an air-layered Mamey, but due to the fact it is a bigger tree, I´m unsure if it can be kept in pots.
Somebody has experience with this fruit in pots? Opinions?

Hi

I did not eat the fruit, I have 10 trees from the rio de janeiro, collected in the Floresta Atlantica and and have two trees that I got the seeds in Rio Doce Park, I'm in Minas Gerais, I live 70 km from the Rio Doce Park , city Timotéo, Minas Gerais,  native biome of this plant.
Who ate this fruit told me that it is very good, the taste reminds of abiu.

There are few people who are cultivating this tree, this photo of the tree has 2 and a half years of planting.

It is worth the tree that is too high and has a very different crown.

The slide cost US $ 1.20 a kg in Brazil!

I do not pay that price by a Mango as dull.

Hello my friends.

The region which produces the slide here in Brazil is suffering with several years of drought.
Irrigation from the São Francisco River is being rationed, besides this time of year have very little mango available.
Despite the mangoes produced in this region without much good and sweet because the weather is hot and dry, which improves the taste of fruits.I do not like mango flavor Tommy, I'm not even trees of this variety.

Grande Miguel,

Hello my friend,
I think the Araçauna, matures in the middle of the month of April, but have fruit all year round.

I control the attack of fruit flies with traps made of PET bottle and I apply insecticide once a year with a product brand name Decis

I have not tasted the ice cream produced by Ajellson, I will try to make my own ice cream, as this fruit is acidic and astringent, I do not use much, this time of year I have many things better tasting to eat.

Hello my friends,

Here are pictures of my Araçauna, on my farm it is native, produces many flowers and fruits.
It's a very acidic fruit and astringent, really ripe, this fruit is used to make juice, ice cream and wine as jaboticaba.

I'm 40 km from the border between Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo State, place of origin of this fruit.

The birds who love this fruit.

I hope to have contributed to the forum.
First picture is the Araçá strawberry

this is not bad news!

At least now I know which genre this tree belongs.
This tree will be planted and cared for like all other trees I have in cultivation.

Thank you.

It can actually be a tree of ingá.

The stem growth is a zigzag caractreistica these trees.

I had not thought this specie, but it is plausible.

Hopefully not a tree in Inga!

Thank you.

Kumulus DF  BAsf + Break Thru Evonik

The combination of these products combat anthracnose and powdery mildew in mango trees, avocados, maprang, Kasturi, Burdekin Plum, grape, peach, quince, guava, acaro of erinose in litchi trees.
The advantage is price per kg, is very cheap and low toxicity.

Hello, thanks for the reply.

Which leaves me not knowing the correct ID, are the hairs on the leaves.
The vast majority of Campomanesias, I have in cultivation. Psidium also are a little different, may be a kind I do not know.

Myrtaceas usually have a characteristic odor when you knead the leaves and that I guarantee has no odor.

Another feature that catches my attention is the fact stem growing zigzag.

Thanks for the welcome.

I have several trees growing on my farm, some 300 species, more than 550 varieties.

Pitanga every place in Brazil has a type, a taste, a color, a size, a excelent varieties but other poor.

I think the black Pitangas the best, are excellent natural and for making juices and jellies ruby.

500
The taste better than Pitanga, It has not bitter and the tree produces many fragrant white flowers.

A beautiful tree in southeastern Brazil!
