Yes, i know even pulp is tasty....most not tropical people think seeds are the only useful part of the plant.
Congratulation :)

Wonderfruit....how does it grow (Kwai muk) ? Do you grow it in the ground or in pot? Do you have any photos?

I think that if it's not widely grown as Jackfruit there should be a reason...anyway it could be a good choice for those who don't have an 10b USDA garden....

How much time does Kwai muk need to ripe the fruit? in the warmest part of south Italy Jackfruit lives and withstands winter....but it doesn't have time to ripen the fruit before winter comes..

There are several species of Fuchsia....the berries can be eaten, but many other small fruits have a better taste.

I think you should wait new growth to know the real plant-damage..

85
It grows very fast...when do you think it will flower?

So if winds destroys the flowers the plant flower again?? Very uncommon.....i thought Kiwi Arguta had just one flowering flush/year...and they needed several chilling hours..

With Satsuma and Kumquat you'll not have any problem, but i think you could grow also less cold-hardy citrus.
Then all temperate fruit trees as Fig, Pomegranate, Kiwi, Persimon, Mulberry, Peach.....

May be I understood wrong......third flush of flower in this year? Or third in 3 years?
Anyway now they are in flower...and we are in June, the same period of flowering of North Italy....and North Italy a Madeira have very different climate...

11.75 feet circumference

Where is it planted?

91
As I know Durian dies also with 45°F or even higher temperature if it's for a longer period.
For the few parts of Florida that always remain above 32°F another rootstock could make the difference....experiments are the only way to know...

92
I strongly believe that Durian grafted on Wild durian (Durio exarillatus) can handle freezing, at least for a few days.
I have seen Wild durians in areas (around Munnar - the only place in Kerala where temperature goes below freezing) that will be covered in ice for 2 - 4 weeks during winter.
And yes, Durian and Wild durian are graft compatible.
Such a graft would make the rootstock (wild durian) resistant to freeze. But what about air temperatures? Freezing air temperature to scion wood (durian) would kill it.

Anyway, as it happens with P. trifogliata for many Citrus, another rootstock could make the plant more cold resistant.....i'm not saying it will survive frost, but may be could withstand the subtropical "winter" of Souht Florida.

Are there some cultivars that produce twice in a year?

95
Give it some supports....one each branch, but after ripening prune, shortening the fruiting branch of at least half

96
As i know none has grown Rambutan and Durian in FL (not in a Greenhouse)....but i think the only way to know if something else can survive is to try....Maybe the good cultivar in a sheltered position could make a dream come true :)

It is both an ornamental and fruit trees...it grows and produce very well in shadow.....very uncommon for a fruit plant :)

98
Interesting :).....if it is native of philippine i think it's as tropical as Rambutan......How is the tree (shape, speed of growth, flowering period etc..) ?
